This is a web-based thesaurus that provides a physical representation of synonym and antonyms.

This works really well in an ELA class for choosing character traits or crafting a writing piece. There is a limit to how many times it can be accessed without a subscription, but it's workable. You simple go back a page and start again. What I like best about this site is that the site will provide you with relatable words to what you're looking for and they don't have to be exact matches. By illustrating them at a distance, it is communicated that this is the nature of the connection. 4-12

Grade level- 7-12 CC- Instead of giving a test, students can be required to a make a comic strip about their understanding of the past unit. Overivew- The site allows a user to make their own comic-book strip Cons- Need some time to get used too.

Overview- A global collaboration tool that allows a user to respond 5 different ways to a presentation that includes pictures, video and images. Cons- Need parents and district permission

Grade level- 9-12 CC- Students can create a prezi for their favorite individual from the course as a form of an assessment. Overview- a new method to presentating information that is interactive, colorful, and digital. Cons- Students may need a tutorial on usage.

Grade level- 9-12 CC- A student can create their own social networking group to collaborate on a class and community project for a Project-Based Learning assignment. Overview- A user can create their own social networking group to their liking and control how it operates. Also it is free. Cons- Needs district and parent permission.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- At the beginning of the year, each student can make their own stixy to introduce themself to the class. Overview- This site allows a user to create their own bulletin site that can display important information and be can be designed their liking with different colors and pictures. Cons- Might need some time to get used too.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- A student that is on home tutoring or absent can get missed worksheets and other important documents from class to stay up to date despite missing class time. Overview- This site allows a user to save their important videos and other imformation online to be accessed by whomever the creator allows. Cons- Need district and parents permission

Grade level- 9-12 CC- After a unit on Rome, students can use the site to their own interpretation of their favorite Roman Emperor. Overview- Students can use the free site to bring their imagination about a person, concept, or idea alive by using the design tools to create a drawing/cartoon. Cons- Not every student has access to the internet.

All online newspapers overlaid on a Google Map. Search for content, zoom in and click on a placemark to view the paper. The website also has the ability to translate. Classroom Connection: *Foreign Language - read newspaper in the native language *Social Studies - compare/contrast a particular topic based on the location of the report; how would an incident in Egypt be reported out by American newspapers as opposed to an Italian newspaper?

Grade level- 7-12 CC- Students can analyze different perspectives on a current event by looking at all the different newspapers. Overview- Using google maps, a user can look newspapers from across the world. COns- Some newspapers do not correctly translate into English.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- This site is filled with links to sites relating to ancient cultures, webquest and much more. This could serve as a review tool for students. Overview- Filled with many resources relating to Anicent Cultures that range from Mesopotamia to the Aztecs. It is very interactive with hosting virtual tours. Cons- Since the site has a lot of infomation it might become a distraction to students.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- Student can use the site to orgnize vocabulary words or phrases when reviewing for a unit. Overview- site allows a user to create a platform for them to see their ideas. Great organizational tool. Cons- Might need some time getting used too.

Grade level- 7-12 CC- A student can post a comment on the discussion board about the class debate on Islam to furher ehance their undertanding of the topic. Overview- This facebook like site allows a teacher to create a safe place for students to collaborate, discuss ideas, and enhance their learning by socializing over the computer. Cons- Needs district and parent permission

Grade level- 9-12 CC- A student can take the words from a news artcle on a current event and create a visual representation using the site. Overview- Can take words from a famous speech, newsarticle, or slogans can create stunning visual tag clouds. Cons- Not every student has access to the internet.

Grade level- 9-12 CC- I would use this site by having students map the travels of a leader like Genghis Khan to understand the rise of how he built the world's biggest empire. Overview- This interactive site lets a user create a timeline of a person using maps. This slideshow can show the travels and journey of a person or country while giving them the chance to post little notes about what specifically happened on a certain day. Cons- If given out as a project, need to make sure every student has internet access to the site.

Grade level- 9-12 CC- If a student is struggling with a certain area, he or she can use the tutorial videos on the site to help review. Overview- This site offers tons of free tutorial videos on concepts from history along with mathematics. Cons- Not every student has access to the internet.

6-12 Teachers and students can use this FREE online program to edit and enhance their photos. Con: Program may not work as expected.
