Grades K-3 An interactive site that teaches students the importance of maps, how to use maps and offers map games to reinforce map skills. Teachers can use this site when delivering lessons on maps and maps skills.

Grade 2-5 Offes geography and map skills activities and games for students. This site can be used to reinforce map skills for students. Teachers can use these activities in a large group to assess students knowledge and understanding of map skills.

Grades 3-6 A resource of free educational podcasts of science experiments as well as other subject areas for students. Teaches can use these science podcasts as visual aids to go along with science experiments. The other aspects of the site can be used in a variety of ways but especially as a visualcompnent with concepts that go along with science and social studies contents.

Purpose of the Website: This informational website is a resource for teachers that help them to develop webquests. All of the components of the webquest are explained to help teachers create their own webquests. There are also links to sample webquests that can be used by students or viewed as samples before you create your own. Grade Level: Professionals Classroom Connection: The resources on this website offer for a variety of different webquests that can be used throughout the year on many different topics. Negatives of this Website: Some of the links have not been updated and are no longer working.

Grades 3-6 An interactive website that offers students story starters to help develop ideas for writing pieces. This site can be used by students that struggle to come up with arting prompts an ideas for writing pieces. Teachers can give these to students for free writes.

Grades 2-5 This site offers interactive games and activities to help students practice grammar skills. A great center for students to pracitce grammar skills.

Grades 2-5 The Screen Actors Guild Foundation reads stories aloud to children. The site offers writing activities to go along with the stories. This site can be used as a center to help students that have difficulty with fluency.

Grades Pre-K-2 A comprehensive supplemental reading program to help young readers This interacitve website can be used as a reader center for students to practice beginning reading strategies.

Grades K-12 A resource with lesson plans and interactive websites for smartboards. Teachers can use this website to deliver lessons based on specific topics and subject areas using the Smartboard.

Purpose of the Website: The possibilities that Google provides for teachers is endless! There are so many applications that Google creates for classrooms to be used by students and teachers. Some of the programs include: - Google Earth - Doodle 4 Google - Gmail - Google Reader - Google Docs There are also classroom lesson ideas available for teachers on this website. Grade Level: K-12, Professionals Classroom Connection: One example of how Google can be used in the classroom is by using Google Earth. When teaching your students about communities, you can take your class on a virtual field trip of your town. You can pinpoint different community buildings that are important for your community to run and show students where these buildings are. Negatives of this Website: Some of the Google applications do not run correctly in my district. I have had trouble saving virtual field trips that I have made in Google Earth and there have been times when Google Docs have not opened correctly. So this may be a program that you will have to test ahead of time.

This is an older version of the Welcome to the Web website that I listed earlier, but this one is easier for younger children to navigate.

K-12 Online poster creator. User can make personal themed posters, using various fonts, images, videos and links. Classroom Connections: *Teachers- create a poster of vocabulary words in science social studies, literacy or math-- include images, fonts, words, videos to reinfoce concepts * Students- create posters to demonstrate what they learned about concepts in any content area- by including text, images, font * Students- Create posters of research done on various topics- or books reports

Grade level- 7-12 CC- Students can create a glogster for a Roman Emperor as to why they would be the best candidate to be Mr. Rome Overview- A great site to post ideas, important information, and great organizational tool designed with images and color. Cons- Need some time to get used too.

This is a tool to be used by students or by teachers to create an online poster. One con to this site is that students will first have to be familiarized with copyright law before reusing information. If the poster is intended to communicate research information, there is no built-in way of creating a bibliography. Check out "Today's Top Glogs" for fresh ideas.
