I recently came across this bank of resources from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland website. There are documents, posters, lesson plans, worksheets and videos available to help you introduce students to the idea of sustainable energy. Many of the resources are also available in Irish.
I'm a big fan of Robert Armbrister's "Write About This" app, so I'm keen to check out his new "Tell About This" app. It certainly looks like a simple, interesting idea, a bit like Fotobabble.
JellyCam is a great, free program for stop motion animation. It's available for Windows and Mac and is incredibly easy to use. It doesn't have the bells and whistles that come with the expensive programs out there but this just makes it better for use in primary education.
Students would find this program a breeze to use with minimal guidance or teaching. I recommend installing it on any school computers and your students can start using it for animation or storytelling. Credit goes to one of my students who told me about JellyCam after he used it to create a project this week.
"The world's largest web development site."
This is an excellent reference and tutorial site for anyone interested in learning more about web development. I'm making my way slowly but surely through the HTML tutorial at the moment. It's full of really easy to follow examples and "Try It Yourself" editors.
I've had students ask me recently if i can teach them something more advanced than scratch. I might introduce them to this site and see if they can work through some of the early examples themselves.
I came across this book on Scribd recently. I teach tin whistle, as do all teachers at my school, as part of our music curriculum. This book will come in handy throughout the year as my students, hopefully, make progress!
"On 02 December 2013, the Minister for Education and Skills announced a public consultation process on the use of technology in teaching and learning in primary and post primary schools [in Ireland]. It is envisaged that the outcomes of this process will help inform policy making in this area."
