    This is a great online alternative to Power Point. It allows you to create power point style presentations that can be shared via a url or downloaded. It is a great alternative first, because its free and still offers most of the common options used in Power Point. Being able to share it via url, and allow the users to download it as an html.

    This site allows the user to create a slide show presetnation from anywhere without having to use PowerPoint. The only thing needed is a web browser and this is compatible with IE 7, Firfox and Camino. What I liked best about this site is its ease of use and that all members can work on the same presentation at the same time. Also, there is no limit to the number or length of the presentation. You even have 250MB to store photos.

    What it does: It is a simplified version of Power Point allowing a user to create slides. Why this one: It is free and easy to use. It is also web-based so that teachers do not need to copy it into folders, files, or CDs. The recurring theme that I have tried to maintain is the need for simplicity and efficient use of time. Creating multimedia presentations are but a small fraction of the enormous number of jobs a teacher must complete. This application, while more limited than Power Point, does allow teachers to complete a project in less time. Learning benefits: Teachers can quickly create a number of messages for essential learning using this package. As well, they can incorporate mind maps, graphic organizers, or other tools to expand the learning process into generative thinking.

The site offers very little in terms of how-to information, and it is primarily at the generative level of cognitive processing, focusing on creating and applying the tool. However, it is a very simple interface, much like PowerPoint stripped down to the basics. Its advantages are ease-of-use, share-ability, privacy options, and the ability to download presentations.

    The three web sites that I selected that include multimedia artifacts for active learning: 1) http://www.learner.org/ The learner.org website is a cognitive activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on using multimedia technology as an aid to human cognition (Mayer, p. 13 2009). It uses film clips to demonstrate the practical applications of various mathematical concepts to real life situations. It builds a connection of what the students are studying to a concrete example (visual) to create a clearer mental picture form prior knowledge to new knowledge that is being discovered. 2) http://pearsonmylabandmastering.com/ The My Lab web site is a behavioral activity. This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on rewarding students for the correct responses (excellent) or punished for the incorrect ones (try again). The underlying metaphor is that of drill-and-practice system, so multimedia is a vehicle for rewarding correct responses and punishing incorrect ones (Mayer, p.15, 2009). The most notable function is the collaboration function that allows the sharing or co-creating of a mindmap. This organizer can be completed by the audience member pertaining to the presentation material in a manner that makes sense to them. Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): I have used this with my students and received positive feedback. I have even used it for some Walden assignments and feel it is user friendly and designed to promote collaboration.

This site promotes generative learning because it helps participants organize ideas for future learning. I selected this site because it makes it easy for you to quickly start planning and sorting out their ideas through the use of linked text bubbles.

It is very simple to use and I have used it with my gifted second graders before and they picked up on it quickly. It has the option to change to colors of the "bubbles"and change the font of the text. The completed mind map can be printed or exported to another site to share with others.

Personally, I have found this tool easy and fun to use. In fact, I used it to create the graphic organizer for the workshop I am creating.

    Bubbl.us is an online graphic organizer that allows one to arrange bubbles in a manner that illustrates relationships. Although it is online, you can export your graphic, print it directly from the application, or save it for future use. As a Flash-based application, Bubbl.us is not necessarily the perfect solution for all computer users, especially Apple users. However, the application overall is quite strong and useful, either as a trainer resource for organizing content, or as a participant resource, used as a means for them to take notes or organize the information they are presented.

I have used this site for all of my concept maps at Walden. It is easy to create and export as a jpg to be uploaded onto a web page, blog or wiki. It stores the working model on the site until it is deleted by the user.

    Bubbl.us is an online site that allows you to create colorful mind maps.  It is completely free to use and extremely user friendly. The mind maps can be shared in a variety of ways and can also be used in all content areas in most grade levels.

    Bubbl.us is a site that allows users to create webs, or mind maps. A hierarchy is created by color-coding the bubbles on each level. The site allows collaboration, as well. Sheets can be shared with other people, who then have the ability to either view or edit the mind map, depending on the permission granted by the creator. Once completed, the mind map can be printed or exported as an image or an outline. This site can help encourage generative learning by providing a medium for learners to visualize connections between key terms and concepts. It is more user friendly that other similar sites. The ease of color coding and outline creation make it better than other sites, as well.

Hyperlinks can also be added to bubbles to link to outside information. These features will be helpful to provide important information outside of the basic connections shown through the graphic organizer. This site is better than Inspiration because it allows for the online component the user can share the graphic organizer with others and allow them the ability to manipulate or change the organizer or just view depending on the needs of the user.

    authorSTREAM is an online tool that will convert timed or narrated PowerPoint presentations to video and retain most settings applied to the original slide show. Also, the videos can be downloaded or posted to various locations online and linked to via blogs, wikis, and other Web sites. Learners can benefit from the variety of features offered such as retaining transitions and special effects to capture attention and the use of video and narration adheres to dual coding principles. By combining those features, complex material can be presented in a manner that assists learners generative cognitive load. I found this tool to be better than others given its simplicity and the fact that it retains transitions and animations. The overall quality of the output is quite good also and the use of the tool is fairly straight forward.

These presentations can be sent via email, or embedded in websites or blogs. After the presentation has been converted to video it can then be upload to sites such as You Tube. This site also allows presentations to be viewed live with the ability to discuss it live also. Most importantly to me, it is free.

Participants can then download these presentations as video for editing into one seamless presentation of a mixture of PPT and video for uploading to YouTube or other video hosting site. Finally, Authorstream more easily integrates audio and animation when compared to other online presenting formats.

It is better than other options because its quick and easy, and it doesn't need to be installed, which is great for teachers who often face restrictions in installing software on their school computers.
