Sri Aurobindo ( Bengali: [Sri Ôrobindo]) (born Aurobindo Ghose; 15 August 1872 - 5 December 1950) was an Indian nationalist, philosopher, yogi, guru and poet. He joined the Indian movement for independence from British rule, for a while was one of its influential leaders and then became a spiritual reformer, introducing his visions on human progress and spiritual evolution.

Elle fut créée en 1968 par " le lieu d'une vie communautaire universelle, où hommes et femmes apprendraient à vivre en paix, dans une parfaite harmonie, au-delà de toutes croyances, opinions politiques et nationalités Mirra Alfassa (Mirra Richard), plus connue sous le nom de la Mère et compagne spirituelle du philosophe indien Sri Aurobindo.
