ABC's great for kindergarten independent reading skills

This site has great interactivity and good response mechanisms. I could see kids using this to practice their pronunciation and reading skills. The language allows clicking on individual words, where they then sound out loud. Check out the Earth Day section - you can drag recyclables to the bins and hear the words. Great! Lots of color, sound, kids voices, and animation make this site fun

agree! I use this frequently w/ K & 1, and especially my ESL students because of the amount of vocabulary it includes!

This website is a great internet tool for emerging readers and struggling readers. Students are able to listen and view tutorials to learn letter sounds, how to use letters in words and how to build sentences. This phonics tool is helpful to students that struggle with traditional instruction but are able to engage with web 2.0 tools to help further their understanding. This website also has additional tutorials and interactive games for holidays, seasons, and more advanced readers.

Starfall is designed for Pre-K-2nd grade students. The goal of this site is to help kids read better by using phonics. This site is on my least favorite list because this site needs to add more interactive elements to it. Students are given the option to click on the words but I feel that having interactive games keeps the child interested

Study Island - 0 views

I have students that are really not in my class, but they are on my role. These students work with Study Island to help them pass their EOG's. These students are below their grade level potential, so they come to me during my class for extra help The Study Island user-friendly interface allows students to move through the program step-by-step. Each section has a pre-test and a post-test, as well as topics that cover each of the objectives within the Standard Course of Study. Topics consist of questions, answers, explanations, and lessons that address the specific skills required in order to master the Standard Course of Study.

This is one of my favorite sites to use. Study Island is built from state standards and features many options for its' users. The intended audience for this site are K-8. It functions as a testing platform for students and an assessment tool for educators. I enjoy that the activities are designed based on state standards and that educators have the option to choose what questions and/or games will be included in the students activity.

The intended audience for this site are students in Pre-K through 8. This site would be a good site if its' games were made using standards from different school districts. Also, some of the games are difficult to understand and poses as a threat to young learners. This site functions as an advertisement site, which can grab learners attention while playing the games.

This site seemed promising at first, but it is not only too busy, you have to pay after a trial. There are plenty of other sites to use for free.
