Thecolor.com - Online coloring - 4 views

  •
Thecolor.com is a website that has hundreds of online coloring pages available for children. The coloring pages are separated into different categories. Some of these categories include alphabet, animals, holidays, insects, and pets. After students finish their coloring creations, they can save them into their own personal gallery and also print them off of the computer.

Even though coloring sheets aren't generally the most creative activity, this could be a good site for children who need practice manipulating the mouse because they can use mouse clicks to color a picture.

I don't promote coloring book pages. I believe we can develop the children's creative expression more by encouraging them to draw their own pictures.

With this site you can create a face using various types of eyes, noses, lips, ears, eyebrows and hair. Once you have created a face you can manipulate it by scaling it up or down, rotating or flipping it. You also have the option to save your picture and email it to friends and family. Overall, I think this is a good site for children to explore creative technology. My biggest concerned was I could not find a statement on who the target audience was. For this reason be sure to carefully watch children when they are at this site.

I really liked and enjoyed this website! I liked the freedom to personalize the face I was creating. With the editing tools of color and scaling up and down, I was able to create numerous completely different faces. I think this activity could be great for older children and could let them explore all of the options online art sites can offer.

This site allows children to create art in a variety of ways. Children can create pictures by simply printing out a picture to color or digitally painting a picture. This site also provides a wide variety of games based on matching, Internet safety and identifying what is different in pictures. The only down side to this site is your work cannot be saved. If you want to keep your work you have to print it out. I thought this is a great site for younger children because it can easily be navigated through pictures.

This site is used to create a "dancing" piece of art. Children can use their creativity to draw and color. Once finished, their artwork is set to music, and it dances in sync. Others dancing artwork can also be accessed and viewed.

This site is great for young children who are learning to use the computer. On this site there is online coloring, print-and-play activities, and storybook creations. This site is easy to navigate, it's child-friendly, and it's free. Everything on this site is about Dr. Seuss and there are things for parents as well. I really like this site!

SlideShare: Present yourself - 2 views

  •
This site is used primarily to share presentation slides, documents and PDFs for getting ideas from others who might have similar interests. SlideShare is most useful for an older age group such as high school or college students and businesses. This can also be used for young children such as when teaching numbers, colors, days of the week, months, seasons, etc.

This site is child-friendly and would be great for making your own website. It is easy to use, and it gives you many ways to create a unique, colorful, and educational website. There are many examples of websites that can be viewed as well.

This looks like a wonderful website! The design layout was very clear to understand, and there are so many options (personal, business, etc.) I liked that there were websites to view, because I am not a very creative person, and I need a little help occasionally! :)

Technology in the lives of our children is here to stay. As a creator and developer, I am very pro technology. While there are many things to celebrate there are an equal number of things to be concerned with. My primary concerns are divided into 2 main areas: technology's impact on human to human interaction and the negative effects of shorter and shorter cycles of information, impacting our ability to focus our attention. Throughout of development cycle, we met with a number of parents. The number one thing everyone expressed was, wanting more time for themselves. Being a parent is exhausting and every one needs a break. What concerns me is the kinds of content, the kinds of experiences and fundamentally, the kinds of rhythms involved in those experiences. I don't want the digital baby sitter to over stimulate my kids or to weaken their ability to hold focus. Everything has a rhythm; every person, every moment, every place. As human beings, this is our primary relationship to our world and to each other. Providing parents with experiences that support their child's rhythm is key to the use of technology in the home. When seeking out digital content, I encourage parents to look for things that provide longer times of focus. Save the fun and flashy events for highly active time. Communicate to your child the quality of time as you make content available to them. its focus time - a movie, its fun time - a game, its quiet time - drawing. One of the things we've done with our digital book, is to provide a free downloadable coloring sheets. Every experience should not be digital. In fact, I believe strongly that facilitating the transition back to the analogue world is part of my responsibility as a digital content creator.
