Sue, what has your school district put in place to implement Common Core Standards? I think common core standards are good idea and I understand the purpose of educational continuity of standards across the country. My only concern is that even though they were created and adopted by most states, that each state will interpret the standards in their own way.

Khan Academy has been a great asset in working with families who are educating at home. There are many wonderful lessons on many different topics!

The Khan Academy is an organization on a mission. They area a notforprofit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free worldclass education for anyone anywhere.
All of the site's resources are available to anyone. It doesn't matter if you are a student, teacher, homeschooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology. The Khan Academy's materials and resources are available to you completely free of charge.
I teach Title I students in K12. With that many grades, I am always looking for resources that can help to enhance my reading and math lessons. I found that the presentations are easy to understand and it also exposes my urban students to working online.
