They do also offer a 3 for free which means you canhave your own room and have up to 3 people in at a time. This would be great for online tutoring sessions. You can upload PowerPoints to the whiteboard to help students understand a topic.

" While this isn't is a Web 2.0 tool, it looks like it might be a helpful group for beginners like me. Living in Laos, I like how international the group looks. Does anyone else have suggestions of this kind of support group for beginners?

    A tool for teachers
  •
Resources like Classroom 2.0 are what a lot of my "beginners" would benefit from. A community supported network aimed at easing one into the technology discussion and learning some cool resources along the way. I encourage teachers who want to find some level of comfort with technology to engage it through sites like Classroom 2.0

e-learning 2.0 - how Web technologies are shaping education - 3 views

  • Teacher's TV Teachers who are subject specialists are also using blogs to provide up-to-date information and commentary on their subject areas, as well as posting questions and assignments and linking to relevant news stories and websites.
  • However, student-produced podcasts are where it's at when it comes to educational podcasting. Swap 'user-generated content' for 'learner- generated content' and you soon get the picture. Apple, with its strong presence in the education market, has been quick to recognize the learning potential of student podcasting.
  • Media sharing The photo-sharing site Flickr is also finding use within education - as it provides a valuable resource for students and educators looking for images for use in presentations, learning materials or coursework. Many of the images uploaded to Flickr carry a Creative Commons license, making them particular suitable for educational use - and the tagging of images makes it much easier to find relevant content. Students can also use Flickr to publish their digital photography to a wider audience. And like blogging, the commenting function on Flickr allows for critical feedback. A lesser-known feature of Flickr - the ability to add hot-spot annotations to an image - also has much potential as a learning tool. Beth Harris, director of distance learning at the Fashion Institute of Technology, State University of New York, has used this feature to enable her students to annotate and discuss a series of paintings as part of an online art history course.

An informative article including information on Teacher's TV(blogs for assignments and subject areas) and student-centered podcasts. Especially interesting is Flickr, a photo-sharing site that can be used to add hot-spot annotations to an image. Online art courses can use this feature to annotate and discuss paintings.
