"One of the wonderful things about Twitter is the way it brings people from all over the world together to share ideas, collaborate and work to make education better. On this page I have included some educational chats. Please note that at times they will not be held on that day due to holidays or other reasons. If you know of any other educational chats please let me know so that I can include them with the appropriate hashtag (#).
I have a great appreciation for the moderators of these chats after I had the opportunity to be the moderator on several of them."

  • THREE for FREE web conferencing. No cost. No catch. No kidding.

This site allows you to create a virtual classroom. At our online school, we are provided with a virtual classrom through Elluminate. They do also offer a 3 for free which means you canhave your own room and have up to 3 people in at a time. This would be great for online tutoring sessions. You can upload PowerPoints to the whiteboard to help students understand a topic.

TodaysMeet - 2 views

  •
Backchannel site that is easy to use. You create a specific 'room' for your backchannel chat and that makes it easier to focus what happens with it.
  •
TodaysMeet helps you embrace the backchannel and connect with your audience in realtime.

Encourage the room to use the live stream to make comments, ask questions, and use that feedback to tailor your presentation, sharpen your points, and address audience needs.
  •
This free online tool is to set up a backchannel. A backchannel is used as a communication tool for a group of people. It is often used in conjunction with presentations. You do not have to register just give a name to the backchannel. Send the link to your participants and they can communicate in the background. You can set the backchannel to be available online for varied amounts of time.

This site allows for instant-message chats from anywhere - helpful if you are at a computer that does not allow "chat" programs to run.
  •
I like this idea - simplifying the instant-chat programs into one easy interface.
