For open, Internet-based wiki platforms, escalation procedures, such as dispute resolution processes, take effect when users cannot constructively integrate their perspectives or act in destructive ways (Viégas, Wattenberg, Kriss, & Ham 2007)). In the context of enterprise wikis, formal roles will be allocated that oversee and facilitate the content creation process. The other core issue of wiki-based collaboration is that the content remains in a “state of flux.” Unless somebody actively “freezes” the wiki content, users can continue to add to it, integrate new perspectives, or change the entire essence of the content.
