"The Virtual Valentines Project is designed to teach students geographical awareness and cultural understanding while connecting classrooms all around the world for Valentine's Day. Interesting post on ISTE.org regarding the integration of worksheets and Augmented Reality. I could really see this being a method teachers can check for student understanding by having the students create their own worksheets following this approach.

This works well with students who prefer to hear directions spoken aloud, but I also use it to teach pronunciation in Spanish. Simply change the voice to the Spanish speaker and it teaches students how to pronounce Spanish phrases! I assume it would also work for English Learners in much the same way.

The book 'Non Obvious' by Rohit Bhargava present an intriguing exploration of how careful observation and thought can reveal emerging trends and as the subtitle suggest 'predict the future'. For educators the ability to identify the trends which will deliver the best outcomes for our students from the noise of fads is alluring. While the talk of new technologies, of learner centric pedagogies and teaching for lifelong learning play the part of the obvious trends in education identifying the non-obvious trend is a more challenging endeavour.

Web 2.0 is about revolutionary new ways of creating, collaborating, editing and sharing user-generated content online. It's also about ease of use. Concept lessons will use Google Earth to present math topics, such as rates or scientific notation in unique ways.
