Involving both offshore and onshore developments, Barzan Gas Project is a vital project expected to sustain and fuel the ongoing and future major infrastructural projects in Qatar. The $10.3bn project is being implemented by RasGas, a joint venture (JV) of Qatar Gas and ExxonMobil.

A growing body of academic research supports the use of project-based learning in schools as a way to engage students, cut absenteeism, boost cooperative learning skills, and improve test scores. Those benefits are enhanced when technology is used in a meaningful way in the projects.

The focal point for this project is How I Spent My Summer Vacation by Mark Teague. Participating classrooms can write their own summer vacation adventure story or calculate the miles traveled during their vacation. Both activities will be shared via the Internet. Project begins August 31st.

Malikai oilfield is located approximately 100km off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia, in water depths of up to 500m within Block G of the South China Sea. It is Malaysia's third deepwater project after the Kikeh and Gumusut Kakap projects. Shell (the operator) and ConocoPhillips hold 35% interest each in the development, while Petronas Carigali owns the remaining 30% interest.

Pacific NorthWest liquefied natural gas (LNG) project is a new natural gas liquefaction and export facility proposed to be constructed in Lelu Island near the Port of Prince Rupert, British Columbia (BC). The project is operated by Pacific NorthWest LNG, a consortium comprised of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas 62%), Japan Petroleum Exploration Company (JAPEX 10%), PetroleumBRUNEI (3%), Indian Oil Corporation (10%) and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec 15%).

Kuwait National Petroleum Company's (KNPC) Clean Fuels Project (CFP) involves the upgrade and integration of the Mina Abdulla (MAB) and Mina Al Ahmadi (MAA) refineries. The project will increase the combined capacity of the refineries from the existing 736,000 barrels per day to 800,000 barrels per day, and will lower the sulphur content of petroleum products to 5%.

Sunrise Yachts, a yacht builder based at Antalya, Turkey, launched a new motor yacht of the Sunrise 45m Series, tentatively named Project 'Sunset', in August. The vessel was ordered by an undisclosed North-American yachtsman in July 2013, after the successful run of her sister vessel M/Y Africa, which was delivered in 2009.

Forrest Kerr is a 195MW run-of-river hydroelectric project located on the Iskut River in British Columbia, approximately 1,000km north-west of Vancouver, Canada. The plant is owned and operated by Canadian energy company AltaGas. Construction of the power plant began in July 2010 and was completed at a cost of $725m in June 2014.

The Renard Diamond project is located in east-central Quebec, Canada, within the Foxtrot property. It was earlier jointly owned by Stornoway Diamond and SOQUEM. In April 2011, Stornoway acquired SOQUEM's 50% share and became the sole owner of the project. Quebec's ministry of resources awarded a 20-year mining license to Stornoway in September 2012.

Every teacher who has attempted to integrate technology into the classroom knows that getting parents on board can sometimes be a challenge. It's not uncommon for the parent of a struggling child to be on the phone with you asking questions like: "Why do you need to use technology to teach math/social studies/English/biology?" or "This is an AP history class  - not computer science!" Your efforts to engage students and develop important 21st century skills can become the scapegoat explanation for problems that have nothing to do with tech. So, how do we as educators get these parents into our corner? Here are some strategies I've used successfully to gain parent buy-in.

Command of the written word is a vital 21st-century skill, even if we are using keys, buttons, and tablets instead of pens and pencils. In fact, in our digital world, communication is now more instantaneous than ever. How do we prepare our students to meet the challenge? Blogging can offer opportunities for students to develop their communications skills through meaningful writing experiences. Such projects not only motivate students to write, but motivate them to write well. Furthermore, student-blogging projects can be designed to address the Common Core State Standards for writing. For example, see anchor standard six, which calls upon students to use technology to "produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others." Score!

Surmont Phase 2 Oil Sands project involves the expansion of the Surmont steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) plant to increase its production capacity from the existing 27,000 barrels of bitumen a day to 136,000 barrels of bitumen a day. The Surmont site is located approximately 60km south-east of Fort McMurray, Alberta, in the Athabasca oil sands region.
