One of my roles is to serve as the Network Coordinator and help facilitate the Internet filtering. Well, educators are awesome at finding value in tools that others may see as "entertainment". In this case, YouTube does provide a wealth of education resources and this list just touches on a few. Thanks to EdTechReview for compiling this list. Those of you reading my share please add any additional channels that are beneficial to educators in their comments feed.

Career Cruising is an internet-based career exploration and planning tool used by students in grades 7-12. Established in 1997, Career Cruising is currently used by over eight thousand institutions across North America, including schools, employment agencies, libraries, colleges and universities This tool supports career education courses and programs at the senior high level (grades 10-12) as well as the Life Learning Choices strand in the intermediate (grades 7-9) health curriculum. It assists students in the collection of data for their personal portfolio. Student logins are generated at Career Cruising, and students have the option to change their passwords to secure their own personal information. As students plan, develop, and document their pathway to a successful career, they are able to use Career Cruising to explore careers that are related to their skills and interests. EduTech in Sydney has been a remarkable experience. A grand celebration of education and an energising gathering of educators ready to share stories and make connections. Despite the rainy weather some 8000 educators came together in the inspiring new International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour and left two days later with hers full of new ideas and wonderings of what might be the future of education. With many ideas still bubbling away here is a brief list of the key take-aways.

Fortunately there are a number of free tools that do these things and they are available for use on any technology platform as they require nothing more than access to the internet. Recently Eric Sheninger used a set of these tools to give his audience at the Hawker Brownlow Conference on Thinking and Learning in Melbourne a voice.
