    I guess you can consider this as spam followed by name calling on a education list serve for professionals. When you actually click on the link you will notice that they are providing a service to low income families who can't afford Internet at their home.

    And don't you think that if I recommended a particular internet company to my students that I wouldn't be called-out for endorsing a particular company? I wouldn't regard that as professional at all. In addition, that company is not necessarily a nation-wide provider of cable services. If you are going to post something about how to get low-cost internet, why don't you list it that way instead of calling it "internet essentials" and making it sound like a legitimate educational tool?

  • Twitter will be my main form of communication. I know, not everyone uses Twitter, but the people I communicate with the most are (mostly) on Twitter. What I love about Twitter is that it’s very limited (140 characters), so you have to keep things brief, and also there isn’t the expectation that you’ll respond to every message, as there is in email. Friends can DM me on Twitter for personal communication.

      Good points. On Group bookmarks we have votes now. Will be adding more meaningful (ie. taken anti-spam into consideration) contribution attributes to reward user participation!

  • If you want to truly learn something, there is nothing like teaching it, so allowing, in fact encouraging, students to help one another solve problems, to teach each other, increases learning for both the helper and the helped.
  • A group can gain social capital by being proud of what it creates and getting positive feedback from other groups. A chance for students, whether working as individuals or in collaborative groups, to give feedback to each other is a valuable tool for creating a greater sense of community and engagement toward common goals.

Public sticky notes can be seen on the page by all Diigo members with the Diigo toolbar or Diigolet installed, and its viewing mode set to "All". The highlights associated with public sticky notes also become PUBLIC, i.e., viewable to all Diigo members. Public highlights and sticky notes should be done with care. To minimize graffiti and spam, we have raised the bar for making public highlights and sticky notes: you need at least two friends in the Diigo community to do so.
