This post makes a solid point about the seemingly lost practice of coding with the proliferation of more ubiquitous technology. While these advances have connected billions, what does this mean for future job markets, innovation, etc. Get the kids coding! I ordered my Raspberry Pi today and look forward to the day when I can get my (now 3-year old) son into coding.

In honor of Pi Day, held March 14, we've developed a theme all about geometry! So get out your protractors, rulers and compasses (or just pull these tools up on your ActivBoard using your ActivSoftware)! In this theme, you will find hundreds of lessons and resources covering topics such as similar triangles and indirect measurement, coordinate geometry, congruence, ratio and proportion, area, perpindicularity and much, much more.

A site called Yummy Math. At first glance the two words may seem at odds...unless you're talking about using some food items as manipulatives. Their tagline is "We provide teachers and students with mathematics relevant to our world today …"   As I investigated further, I realized these were a collection of "math stories" that set up a real-world scenario; then they pose questions for the students to ponder and problem-solve. They are timely with current events. Currently, there are math stories on March Madness, Pi Day, Green green Chicago River, and Shamrock Shakes. You can search by month or by math standard. Each math story involves multiple math standards and new stories are regularly added.
