This site offers a growing bank of imaginative, highly visual teaching-aids developed for use with interactive whiteboards. The resources are designed to be used as rich sources of visually stimulating material, making use of both animations and drag and drop interactivity. One example: Try Biology. There are some drag and drop labeling activities for the IWB.

A flowchart depicting the process of scientific inquiry (nature of science). Can trace the development of different ideas. Gives a visual representation that the "scientific method" is not a rigid, sequential process that goes automatically from one step to the next.

Great website with lesson plans and lots of multimedia covering basic chemistry topics. Though titled "middle school chemistry" much of the material can be referred to or used for basic high school chemistry or even biology (such as the basics on bonding, water molecules, etc).

Agreed. The chapter on the periodic table is worth it just for the animations, let alone the lesson plans and other resources. What a good get, Holly. Kudos to the American Chemical Society for setting it up.

Scienterrific Games - 128 views

  •
I love Scienterrific Games. At this site, you'll find a variety of games (board games, card games, etc) to use as review with your students. They are geared more toward high school, but all the typical high school sciences are represented. The owner is a former colleague who is a total inspiration to me. The games are not free, but are VERY reasonably priced. I have used several, and my students LOVE them.
