New Tools - LibGuides at Springfield Township High School - 134 views

  •
Joyce Valenza and Kristen Swanson, have assembled a good collection of Web 2.0 tools and guides for teachers. The collection is part of STHS Library Guides. Their new tools catalog is organized by function (wikis, podcasting, etc) and topics related to technology use in schools (media literacy, fair use, privacy).  Applications for EducationIf you're the technology integration specialist or just the "techy" person that everyone goes to, the STHS Library New Tools is a good site to refer your colleagues to when they need a quick reference to learn about new tools.

The 22 rules of storytelling, according to Pixar - 4 views

  • You admire a character for trying more than for their successes.
  • You gotta keep in mind what's interesting to you as an audience, not what's fun to do as a writer. They can be v. different.
  • Putting it on paper lets you start fixing it. If it stays in your head, a perfect idea, you'll never share it with anyone.

  • Simplify. Focus. Combine
  • Why must you tell THIS story? What's the belief burning within you that your story feeds off of? That's the heart of it.
  • No work is ever wasted. If it's not working, let go and move on - it'll come back around to be useful later.

This site is wonderful for younger students and older ELLs. Using exquisite art graphics from an extensive library of images children create online storybooks. The fanciful and beautiful graphics inspire the creator to write a story. The program then publishes the online book with a default "private" setting. This site appears to be carefully monitored and supervised. Excellent for ELA.

What Is The Future Of Digital Publishing? - Edudemic - 23 views

Leading the charge into the next generation of interactive book design is Robin Mitchell-Cranfield, of Vancouver Film School. I had the pleasure of attending Robin's presentation at Adobe MAX Education Summit as well as speaking with her a bit later at Adobe MAX where she shed some light on what she's working on, why she thinks books could forever change and why tablets have been the impetus for her to get so excited about the future of digital publishing.
