In 2009, at the behest of the Obama administration, the United States joined 152 other countries in endorsing a U.N. Arms Trade Treaty Resolution. The resolution establishes an international conference to be held next year, at which leaders from countries around the world-many of which have deplorable human rights records-will draw up an international treaty designed to severely restrict or even outright ban your right to sell, purchase, carry or own a firearm. Just two years ago, NRA fought a push to consider a 1997 Organization of American States gun control treaty in the Senate.

Freedom to make bad decisions is inherent in the freedom to make good ones. If we are only free to make good decisions, we are not really free. I can assure you of this - once the government gains a foothold into regulating the internet, even for benevolent reasons, the wonders of the free internet will soon be a thing of the past.

Many Americans have come to see our individual freedoms as the wellspring from which national freedom is born, and thus individual freedoms are the most important. Without national freedom, there is no individual freedom, and national freedom only lasts as long as we have political freedom. National freedom is the end result of the first two freedoms, because we who value our individual and political freedom will not allow our country to be destroyed by outside forces-or by those Americans who don't believe in the full triad of freedoms.

Private citizens don't need ammo two or three years in the future.They need it at prices the poor and middle class citizen, who needs self-protection the most, can afford. Applied to marriage, assuming what's not true, that marriage between two men offends me, it's not the government's role on any level to protect me from being offended. Whatever one thinks of marriage between two men or two women, the argument that such a union negatively impacts those who aren't gay, or those who blanch at marriage between gay people is not compelling. Here's hoping we don't stop at marriage in expanding individual rights, rights that are natural, and that should exist free of political or voter influence.

The new California gay marriage law has taken effect, and thousands of couples are clamoring to exercise that right at secular offices and religious institutions throughout the state. These thoughts were inspired in part by an email, received Monday, with a link to the New York Times review of a new movie, Chris and Don: A Love Story, about the British-born writer Christopher Isherwood and his life-long companion, the artist Don Bachardy.

The government wants to regulate abortion, religion, sex, child discipline, marriage, and free speech.They want to control what you can post on the web, what your kids wear to school, where you can walk across the street, what you can watch in titty bars, what you can say at the office, where you can pray, where you can get high, who you have sex with, what kind of sex you have, what jokes you can tell, and when you can spank your children.
