The recent US air strike on a building in the western Libyan city of Sabrata, which killed more than 40 suspected Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) fighters, highlights the growing expansion and danger of the group in Libya. Both ISIL and Gaddafi loyalists share the belief that the new political leaders in Libya are "agents of the West" brought to power by NATO. Sirte has become the first stronghold that ISIL totally controls outside of Iraq and Syria, and it is reportedly home to the group's strongest presence within Libya. For the Western powers to combat this, means many military airstrikes as well as working with Libyan forces to provide intelligence of the whereabouts of the ISIL powers

Mohamed Ahmed is fighting ISIS in his own way by making anti-ISIS cartoons, and because of this he is now receiving death threats from ISIS members. His home town of Minneapolis is a huge ISIS recruiting station for ISIS since the largest Somali population in the US is there.

Libya's popular uprising officially began on February 17, 2011, resulting in the toppling of long-time dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Since then, the oil-rich nation has been plunged into political chaos amid the growing threat of Islamic State.

The Muslim Brotherhood initially started as a movement to spread Islamic morals and goods but later became involved in political matters. Under British rule and the Egyptian government, the movement has been in direct opposition of individuals in charge and many of their ideals. Through different political moves the group has obtained some power, which has made an impact on many Egypt elections.

The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is facing a difficult time, especially after the end of Morsi's presidency and now crackdown on the Brotherhood which has been called a terrorist organization. It used to be a group that was involved in spreading morals from the Quran, but now has turned into a political group as well. This does not go too well, especially in a time for the Middle East where democracy, secularism and Islamists are clashing heads.

A major confrontation has broken out between the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Syria's other rebel militias. It is being led by two newly organized coalitions, called Jaysh al Mujahidiin and the Front of Syrian Revolutionaries.These groups look to put a hault to the vastly growing terrorist group that has spread heavily into these countries.

Faced with a cash shortage in its so-called caliphate, the Islamic State group has slashed salaries across the region, asked Raqqa residents to pay utility bills in black market American dollars, and is now releasing detainees for a price of $500 a person. After America blew up Isis's money hideout, they have hit a skid with the money not coming in and the war still raging on.

The US was able to commit such detrimental airstrikes to ISIS currency storage facilities that the "caliphate" is now cutting salaries. Millions of their finances have been drained since this attack.

There's a new hacking group in cyberspace, and it's going after the Islamic State's online propaganda. Less than 24 hours after ISIS social media accounts posted a threatening message from the group's leader, the audio recording was replaced with a song and its transcript with a logo resembling that of the Egyptian military, accompanied by a writing in Arabic that read "Egyptian Cyber Army."

This is another example of how ISIS or ISIS inspired fighters are increasingly moving their operations Westward into Libya. As they continue to lose ground and support in Iraq and Syria, they find an area that is basically the wild west when it comes to terror. Libya has no stable government and no real solution to combat the influx of ISIS.

With the increasing amount of ISIS fighters pouring into Libya combined with virtually no government in Libya, the threat to European security is real. The Libyan coast is roughly 300 miles away from Sicily, just a bit farther than the distance between Dallas and San Antonio. In the past we have seen refugees fleeing Libya and taking rafts to the Sicilian coast, one must wonder if ISIS fighters are among them.

Russian warplanes are conducting airstrikes now in Syria, according to a slew of news reports. The move follows authorization by a vote in Russian parliament as well as weeks of Kremlin messaging about the importance of bolstering the Syrian regime to combat the Islamic State. These Russian airstrikes, although effective, have put United States in a bit of worry because they are unsure of who is calling in the airstrikes. Russia is known to support Assad so any chance they have they will use the strikes to help strengthen Assad, which is not what the U.S. wants. These actions were not surprising to the United States, who believe Russia is saying that they will attack terrorists when they really just want Assad to stay in power.

But privately officials are nervous, both about Russian attempts to brand any group that has ever co-operated with militant elements like the Islamic state or the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front as "terrorist" and, therefore, ineligible to take part in, or make any significant move towards moving President Assad off the political stage. For now there is an agreement to allow the PResident to stay in power and the United States is biting its tongue, hoping that the violence will slow down.

The House Judiciary Committee recently passed a resolution calling on the State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. This resolution resonates with the feverish anti-Islamic politics of the Republican primary, fueled across the spectrum by candidates from Donald Trump to Marco Rubio. Other countries even in the Middle East have officially stated the Brotherhood as a terrorist group. There is much debate on their stance and beliefs and what this should mean to the international community especially in a time of instability in the Middle East.
