This is a dense article but for that reason, all the more important to read carefully. This part surprised me in a good way:
"By waiting until the user has finished their activity, closing an app, or is switching to another task and then showing a relevant, media-rich full screen, a Postitial ad to say "thank you and this session was sponsored by brand X" has proven to be around five times more engaging than traditional interstitial advertising."
Something that has increased in popularity lately is Netflix. It's supported on Chrome Casts for the tv, computers, gaming systems, and has a really convenient app. The app essentially turns you phone into a remote. Now you don't have to run to the computer to change shows. I know nowandays the only time I actually download an app is for a service and I'll probably download this one.

This is a very big deal - most times when apps get bought out, their privacy policies are largely dismissed or completely changed. Due to the massive popularity and international use of WhatsApp, this is not a possibility. So the question is, if there will be no ads or information selling, how will Facebook make a profit with this aquisition? How can we as interactives sell this product?

Yeah, Facebook is notoriously uninterested in people's privacy, but they seem to be in a bit of a bind here. Of course Zuckerberg has always said "the revenue funds the product, not he other way around" - in direct contrast to basically every company ever.

Building off what we talked about today in class. More tech protests in san fran but now because of environmental reasons against twitter. time to jump on the bandwagon I guess.
I know, I know. This is old - in internet time - but didn't know this existed. Interesting how information collected on different devices can be used interchangeably.
What is most interesting to me about this is the potential for storytelling - think of it like a play where the first act is inside a mobile banner, the second act is in a web banner and the third act is served via Netflix video ad.
We can learn from our past to move in to the future. I feel that many of these will continue to hold true for some time to come and others will change or morph into new and amazing things.

everything that can have a cpu will have a cpu and they will communicate together. you do one thing in your fridge and your phone, laptop, tv, car and tablet will know about it to... and soon our brains.
This is also commonly referred to as "the internet of things." Digital Sixth Sense is probably a more intuitive way to talk about it, but it's a complex topic to grasp regardless.
