Common Gateway Interface - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • The Common Gateway Interface (CGI) is a standard protocol for interfacing external application software with an information server, commonly a web server. The task of such an information server is to respond to requests (in the case of web servers, requests from client web browsers) by returning output. Each time a request is received, the server analyzes what the request asks for, and returns the appropriate output. The two basic methods for the server to do this are the following: If the request identifies a file stored on disk, then return the contents of that file. If the request identifies an executable command and possibly arguments, then run the command and return its output. CGI defines a standard way of doing the second. It defines how information about the server and the request is passed to the command in the form of arguments and environment variables, and how the command can pass back extra information about the output (such as the type) in the form of headers.

Const-Correctness in C++ - 0 views

  •
    "While it is true that using the object-oriented features of C++ requires more thought (and hence, more opportunities to make mistakes), the language provides features that can help you create more robust and bug-free applications. One of these features is const, the use of which I will address in this article. "

Blockstack - The New Decentralized Internet - 0 views

  •
    'Blockstack is an open-source project and a decentralized network. For the past years, one company, Blockstack Inc, has taken the lead on protocol development. We plan to have many independent individuals and companies operating on the network and taking on greater roles in the protocol's development. We will release more details on governance structures and potential independent entities that can provide a degree of neutrality and balance to the protocol development in the long run.'

    "Our mission is to preserve your brain well enough to keep all its memories intact: from that great chapter of your favorite book to the feeling of cold winter air, baking an apple pie, or having dinner with your friends and family. If memories can truly be preserved by a sufficiently good brain banking technique, we believe that within the century it could become feasible to digitize your preserved brain and use that information to recreate your mind. How close are we to this possibility? Currently, we can preserve the connectomes of animal brains and are working on extending our techniques to human brains in a research context. This is an important first step towards the development of a verified memory preservation protocol, as the connectome plays a vital role in memory storage."
