United We Serve is a nationwide service initiative that helps meet growing social needs resulting from the economic downturn. With the knowledge that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when given the proper tools, President Obama is asking us to come together to help lay a new foundation for growth. This initiative aims to both expand the impact of existing organizations by engaging new volunteers in their work and encourage volunteers to develop their own "do-it-yourself" projects.

The concept for this site was born when a group of us at West End Community Ventures were launching Ottawa-Carleton's first Green Community initiative. We wanted to better our understanding of how to improve our own program's impact. In securing funding from the Ontario and Canadian governments, we were encouraged - and enabled - to step back from the day-to-day urgencies of our particular program and to take a broader and longer view.

Design@Darden is an online community that helps educators teach design, especially in settings where design is not traditionally taught, such as business schools. The resources and conversations taking place at Design@Darden aim to create community and advance knowledge. By sharing inspirations, thoughts, tools and challenges, Design@Darden hopes to facilitate a vibrant community of educators who are innovating the future of design.

Aspiration's mission is to connect nonprofit organizations, foundations and activists with software solutions and technology skills that help them better carry out their missions. WE THINQ was born from the need to create a space to explore innovation. The creator, Christian Kreutz has been working as an innovation advisor since 2006. When working with clients he found that the small things were getting in the way of meaningful work. Gathering people together for a workshop or conference devoured organisational resources. Instead of developing great ideas, change makers were spending their time to find creative minds. He found a few online collaboration tools, but these were overloaded with features and complicated to use that they didn't help his clients at all. And so, WE THINQ was born.

The GovLab Academy aims to apply the principles of innovation to education by "unbundling" knowledge -access to a la carte content, tools and instructors; "bundled' knowledge - content organized by expert-instructors to jumpstart learning; and providing mentorship, fellowship and feedback to enable mastery.

This site has been around since 1997, and we remain focused on the founding vision of offering really useful and free change management content to our web visitors. "Modeling to Learn is a national quality improvement initiative in the Veterans Health Administration (VA). Funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and VA Health Services Research and Development (HSRD), scientific study of Modeling to Learn is underway to determine its effectiveness increasing delivery of evidence-based addiction and mental health care (NIDA R01DA046651 and R21DA042198 ; HSRD I01HX002521; PI: Zimmerman ). Modeling to Learn supports multidisciplinary teams of frontline psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and certified peer support specialists in VA. This demonstration website supports the research effort by providing a simulation demonstration to implementation science and quality improvement researchers, and to patient, provider and policy-maker stakeholders across VA, or other integrated addiction and mental health care systems."
