I've just read an article by Joanne Laucius on a new education policy called the "Johnny can't fail policies". Very simply the policy gives high school students the opportunity to redo tests and assignments and receive incompletes for missed work and plagiarism instead of a zero.

"This document is a compilation of available worldwide ICT4E policies and plans, at both a national and Ministry of Education level (where available).To enhance the reach and quality of teaching and learning through the effective use of ICTs, policy makers need to be aware of how to best utilize ICTs to create value-add for their country's education system. A supportive policy environment and framework, developed at the national level is key to the successful integration of ICTs into any education system. "

There are a few paradigms used in the formation of the foreign policy. You may have heard of liberalism or realism, but do you have any clue as to what those terms mean? These are just a few paradigms and their sub-paradigms that help shape Foreign policy around the world.

CoSN Receives MacArthur Grant: Exploring Policy and Leadership Barriers to Effective Use of Web 2.0 in Schools
The $450,000 grant began July 1st and over the coming year CoSN will focus on the following key objectives:
1.Identify findings from existing empirical research relevant to the use of new media in schools and the barriers to their adoption and scalability.
2. Assess the awareness, understanding, and perspectives of U.S. educational leaders (superintendents, district curriculum and technology directors/CTOs) and policymaker's on the role, problems, and benefits of new media in schools within a participatory culture context.
3. Investigate and document the organizational and policy issues that are critical obstacles for the effective deployment of new media.
4. Develop a concise report of findings and construct an action plan for intervention.

In order to formulate a national strategy focusing on online child safety, policy makers need to consider a range of strategies.This document includes a number of key areas for consideration. These Guidelines have been prepared in the context of the Child Online Protection (COP) Initiative in order to establish the foundations for a safe and secure cyber world for future generations. It's equally true for educators that districts should (1) HAVE a social media policy and (2) make sure new hires are made aware of what they are and understand their role regarding the messy interplay of privacy and public, networked interactions.

Personalisation in education has been discussed in research and policy papers for approximately ten years. Personalised learning, as a concept, first appeared in the United States and was subsequently expanded and deepened through work in the United Kingdom as it became embedded in a wider argument for the reform of all public services. This reform aimed to create services that responded more directly to the diverse needs of individuals rather than imposing uniform solutions on all people.
