Internet Safety for Families and Children - 0 views

  •
The Internet is a useful and important part of our daily lives. Many can't remember how we handled even the most mundane tasks without online assistance. How did we even survive when we were kids? :-) However, along with the good, there is bad. Children and teens (but not their parents!) are very well versed in using the Internet, including web pages, blogs, uploading and downloading information, music and photos, etc. They are also trusting. This presentation will give an overview of the Internet and the inherent dangers. Learn the realities and dangers of ``virtual communities'' websites your kids frequent like Xanga.com, MySpace.com and FaceBook.com. Learn about the persistence of information on the net and Google hacking. Learn the differences between a wiki, blog, Instant Messaging, text messaging, and chat. Learn the Internet slang, key warning signs, and tips for Parents and Kids. This talk is for anyone who has a child, who knows a child, or who ever was a child!

Study Hacks » Blog Archive » How Ricardo Aced Computer Science Using His iPhone - 19 views

  • In more detail, he did the following: He created a free wiki using PBworks. For each course, he created a page on the wiki for the next exam. After each lecture, he put aside time to add the relevant notes to his wiki.  To do so, he would create a subpage for each topic, and then list the main points, add snippets of sample code, or summarize any other information relevant for the exam. Following the stealth studying philosophy, he would then access his wiki using his iPhone while walking to class and waiting for the lecture to begin, doing quick bursts of review. (PBworks plays nicely with iPhones, making it easy to browse the wiki on the run.)

What is Naver? Naver is a South Korean search engine, an e-commerce platform, an online advertising platform and internet company. The name Naver is derived from the word nave (navi in Japanese) meaning "navigator" or "spiritual guide". It was launched in June 1999 by NHN Japan. Buy Naver Accounts In July 1998, NHN Japan announced its intention to enter into the Internet field with a new company named as Naver Corporation that would be based on content sharing using its own servers.[4] On November 16th of that year it began offering services for international users via a service called Seowon (South-East Asia Online). In March 1999 this service was discontinued due to lack of interest from customers who were already established users of Yahoo! Japan's overseas services.[5][6] Why to buy Naver accounts? Naver accounts are the most popular accounts in Korea. They're easy to use and can be obtained for free, so they make a great choice if you want to get started with social media marketing. If your business is based on social media, Naver is the place to start! What is a Naver Account? Naver is the most popular search engine in South Korea. It was founded in 1997 and has since become an essential part of Korean life, with millions of users actively using it every day. In fact, according to Statista's 2018 Global Digital Economy Report, Naver accounts for more than 50% of all web traffic in Korea. Buy Naver Accounts In addition to being a leading portal site (which provides information about restaurants, shopping malls and other businesses), Naver also offers some features that aren't available on other platforms such as its 'Naver Map' feature which allows users to find nearby businesses by entering their location into the map interface instead of having to type specific addresses into search engines like Google Maps or Apple Maps (which are much more popular). Johnny Can't Fail Policy: Why University students are becoming stupider by the minute - 0 views

  •
I've just read an article by Joanne Laucius on a new education policy called the "Johnny can't fail policies". Very simply the policy gives high school students the opportunity to redo tests and assignments and receive incompletes for missed work and plagiarism instead of a zero.

How To Perform A Facebook-ectomy - 17 views

  • Option #3: You can go to a third party site that specializes in helping people commit "suicide" on Facebook. The two best known sites are "Seppukoo.com" and "The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine".  Facebook attorneys are wallpapering these sites with cease and desist letters right now. The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine is currently down claiming it was hacked and rendered dead in the water. What these sites do, or did, is merely deactivate your account for you. So, they don't make you anymore "dead" than the options above. What's helpful is that they automate notices to all your Facebook friends sending them your last will and testament and forwarding address in Web 2.0 heaven. Seppakoo even puts up a memorial page for you on Facebook where your friends can go for your Facebook wake. Nice, eh?
