A magnitude 8.9 earthquake that was the biggest in Japan since the 1800's when they started recording earthquakes. The biggest one since what is thought to be about 800 A.D. It is also one of the 5 biggest earthquakes ever recorded.

I can't believe it's still major news. Kind of like 9-11 or Michael Jackson's Death.

Spring Break Extra Credit Part II: Explore parts of Mercury by viewing the mosaic postcards on this website. Comment on diigo about one of the cards that you read. Remember to name the coordinates for the card. ex: I looked at b3 and thought it was interesting that....
  •
In c5, I learned that Mercury darkens over time due to space weathering. When a meteoroid strikes Mercury, the blast reveals the inner layer of the rock, which hasn't been weathered. This makes craters look lighter.
  •
I actually did look at B3, by thinking that it was a good location. I thought it was interesting how in 35 years, we could go from a camera taking very blurry images to taking the most high-def picture to view on my 120 in. flat-screen tv.
