WEEK 7 RESOURCE CONTRIBUTION Megachurch Pastors Ask Christians to Talk Less, Act More (... - 0 views

  •
Pastors Kerry and Chris Shook, founders of Woodlands Church in Houston encourage their congregation to "live the scripture." This ties in with our readings this week about action, community, and connection. They believe that more and more, people do not want to just sit and listen to a sermon, they want to live the sermon and spread the word and action to others.

Most religious groups in USA have lost ground, survey finds - USATODAY.com - 0 views

  •
By Cathy Lynn Grossman, USA TODAY When it comes to religion, the USA is now land of the freelancers. The percentage. of people who call themselves in some way Christian has dropped more than 11% in a generation. The faithful have scattered out of their traditional bases: The Bible Belt is less Baptist. I found it interesting that many religious groups are fading as time goes on. People are less likely to pinpoint a certain religious group that they are affiliated with. I know the Catholic Community took a bit hit in members being proud to say they are catholic when many altar boys were molested by some of their priests. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/religion/2009-03-09-american-religion-ARIS_N.htm

ADVOCACY & LOBBYING - 2 views

Charities have to be careful when they lobby for something that they believe in or want. However, they have to be careful not to lobby and cross the lines on how they lobby. Their status as non-profit could be jeopardized if they are not careful.

RESOURCE CONTRIBUTION: WEEK 6 Boston city councilors vote for $20,000 a year raise - Th... - 1 views

  •
I decided to use my Legislating Change assignment as my resource contribution. I feel that the amount they are asking for is too high, considering many other important funding that has been cut and will continue to be cut. I also feel that the reasons they gave for wanting a raise are an insult to residents who are making do with far less.
