      I totally agree with this statement. If I were graduating from college today with the same GPA when I did, I wouldn't be able to get my certificate due to the higher standards. Yet, here I am, now helping other (veteran) teachers improve their instruction.

  • Having read this, I wonder… how good is the translation tool in Google Docs really? I’m fluent in a few languages, so I decided to put it this to the test.

    This would be a great assignment. Have your students write a pargraph and put it through a translation tool and find the mistakes and correct them. You can see the process using google doc's revision history feature.

  • Instead of blocking the many exit ramps and side routes on the information superhighway, they have decided that educating students and teachers on how to navigate the Internet’s vast resources responsibly, safely, and productively—and setting clear rules and expectations for doing so—is the best way to head off online collisions.
  • “We are known in our district for technology, so I don’t see how you can teach kids 21st-century values if you’re not teaching them digital citizenship and appropriate ways of sharing and using everything that’s available on the Web,” said Shawn Nutting, the technology director for the Trussville district. “How can you, in 2009, not use the Internet for everything? Wolfram|Alpha: The Use Cases - 0 views

  • Stephen Wolfram told Chronicle.com that computer-algebra systems like Wolfram|Alpha actually improve education - because they allow students to explore complex problems on their own and intuitively determine how functions work, rather than just learn rote processes.
