I'm seeing the use of a rainbow spectrum more frequently in designs, and this one is a little different in that the colors are desaturated and the value darker.

Here is another very cool variation of the use of a rainbow spectrum. I like that the image extends down into the content as a highly tinted background.

The Neo Grotesque typeface creates a retro feeling to the site.

I like the perceptual layering used in this layout. The shadows are nice, too...very subtle and more of an outer glow than a directional shadow.
