After an absolutely dismal 2009, where two of America's three domestic automakers declared bankruptcy, and someone finally pulled the plug on sales, 2010 could only get better right? Well, that was true for some automakers, classes, and particular vehicles; for others, 2010 was another year of struggling.

It was wet and wild at the start and the finish, but the eighth annual Targa Newfoundland lived up to expectations of excitement for competitors and spectators alike as it made its way up the East Coast of the island Sept. 12-18. Edison2, the tiny, Virginia-based engineering company that won the $5 million mainstream class in the Automotive X Prize last year, recently tested the performance of its all-electric, four-passenger Very Light Car design - a rounded pod with outboard-mounted wheels - at Roush Laboratories in Livonia, Mich.
