Louie Soares hails from Modesto, California. This town is at the top of the Golden State's central valley, an agricultural breadbasket. As a dairyman and farmer, Louie's at home with diesel-powered equipment, but his favorite oil burner is his bright red 2001 second gen Dodge Ram. Louie tells us some friends talked him into buying his 2500 in late 2000, right as the new trucks hit the dealerships. Of course, it didn't take much convincing, as he'd been planning on getting a new truck as a graduation present to himself.

In 1969, Jon Kinzenbaw was a talented welder and fabricator in Ladora, Iowa, whose reputation for being able to design and fabricate just about anything was expanding rapidly. With a farming background and a natural engineer's mind, he had already invented and was producing machinery to make farming work easier.

The cab is primarily from a '48 1 ½-ton flat bed farm truck from the orchards of Fresno. But in total three cabs were used, eight doors, three hoods, three grilles, a long bed and a long bed set of running boards. The various parts were needed to complete the long list of body mods and reshaping that would be done at Ironworks Speed & Kustom in Bakersfield, California.

James Noel is a truck owner who uses his rig every day for work since he was old enough to drive. He was born and raised in the Little Belt Mountains of Montana on his family's working farm and ranch. All of their trucks were used, and sometimes abused, to get the work done.

Driveline upgrades include a Dynatrac ProRock 60 front axle and a set of 4.10:1 gears front and rear, along with Detroit lockers. The front billet diff cover is standard with the front Dynatrac axle, while at the rear a chrome cover was used on the Dana 70. J&H Performance upgraded the stock transmission with a stack of parts from DTT Diesel Performance. The DTT-2006 auto transmission is tough and durable, according to Louie.

What sets Brandon's Super Duty apart from the rest of the farm trucks in his area is the wild blue flame paint job that's accented with green pinstriping. Before painting, the truck was fitted with a steel cowl-induction hood and billet grille.

Up until 1971, front disc brakes were only an option on GM trucks because most trucks were still seen as workhorses and relegated to the farm or work site; but converting to a disc brake setup is a must for those looking to build modern, reliable and safe C-10 trucks.
