But even aside from the new ZL1, the looks, power and performance of the other Camaro models make it a muscle car with lots to offer. Even so, it does have some drawbacks. Outward driver visibility is an issue due to the low-profile windows which can make for challenging rear and side views. And while coupe buyer's normally aren't overly concerned with rear seat room, the backseat of the Camaro is the smallest and least accommodating in the muscle car segment.

Buick isn't a name that is normally associated with muscle cars. Unless of course, you're saying something like, Hey, that muscle car can go faster than a Buick without going above second gear.

For those who grew up in the `60s and `70s, during the heyday of muscle car mania, high performance is in the blood. Just ask Ron Stutz of Cabot, Pennsylvania. He began drag racing cars at the tender age of 16 and has been an auto enthusiast for more than 40 years. Some of his previous builds include a '68 Hemi Roadrunner, '69 Dodge Dart and '64 Plymouth, so Ron is obviously a Mopar Man.

In the American muscle wars, Ford's 2010 Mustang has received a new ally with the news ConsumerReports placed it above Chevrolet's Camaro and the new Dodge Challenger. The Consumers Union October issue hit the stands Sept. 1.
