This TESOL board has lots of good discussions and ideas from teachers. (This is just one example -- check out past history for other ideas.) One nice feature -- you can add your own example and/or write a comment on someone else's.

How to scaffold with vocabulary and grammar to build understanding of poetry. Uses a word wall (which could be online) to keep technical literary definitions in mind as they deconstruct the poem. This would work for ESL/EFL students equally well.

Free audio stories/audiobooks for kids. Usually features a holiday-related story on the frontpage, but includes classic English fairytales like Snow White and The Three Little Pigs. Not specifically ESL/EFL, but looks very useful for listening and culture activities.\n--EHS

SWBAT (students will be able to . . .) is not a bad idea for ESL/EFL. This teacher makes the students repeat the goal/objective of the lesson. The Teaching Channel has a number of good videos for managing classrooms and content. Not necessarily technological.

Aaron Sams' 2:15 min video shows what he does to "flip" his classroom. Would this work with ESL/EFL learners, and how?

This website focuses on teaching how to write an argumentative and opinion essay. These teachers demonstrate 3 techniques for teaching and reviewing grammar with an adult ESL class.

Nik Peachey demonstrates a wonderful tool, SafeShare.tv that can be used to crop YouTube videos, stripping ads, and shortening them, to make them more useful for ESL/EFL classes. Nik gives a number of suggestions, with accompanying video examples, and an instructional video of how to use the tool.

This has great videos on how to teach a wide variety of subjects, as well as how to manage students' behavior in class, set up collaborations, assessment, and esp. for US teachers, the common core standards. Very useful for teacher training, though not specifically oriented toward ESL/EFL.

An absolutely great site for video tips on great techniques used by good teachers to manage their classrooms. Effective teaching practices, though not specifically related to ESL/EFL, can be adapted to your own setting. A terrific resource.

This is a fun 9 min. on how to draw animals rapidly and simply. Good for ESL/EFL to demonstrate a point, too.

Use of closed captioning--low tech

"I was recently in a third grade classroom and was struck by the presence of rules that were posted for how to have a conversation. The poster said, "Each person must contribute to the discussion but take turns talking. Ask each other, 'Would you like to add to my idea?' or 'Can you tell us what you are thinking?' Ask questions so that you understand each other's ideas. Say, 'Can you tell me more about that?' or 'Can you say that in another way?'" "Having visited many middle and high schools, I think these same rules could -- and probably should -- be posted there as well. " How important the rules of conversation are! We all too often expect our students to "get into groups and discuss," but how often are these productive conversations? These tips/strategies are well worth practicing at the beginning of every year/semester, and not just with young learners. These tips are also a nice practice for EFL/ESL students as they prepare to speak with native speakers.

This lesson plan is very detailed and revolves around a blog assignment to discuss students' hobbies. Nice combination of writing and high student interest possibilities.
