Not sure why you sent that link as a email instead of posting it Jaime, but it is very interesting. This is really interesting as a tech development. Will this idea catch on, do people want things not "with them" what if Google goes under what happens to that data? For us I think it is a problem because it would mean so much of students work is stored out of the country, out of the district (this is an advantage to Moodle). Personally I am intrigued but cautious, I don't like subscription service for something as key as my data. While it may protect me from my hard drive crashing and not having a back up it doesn't protect me from Google jacking up my subscription fee.

I think I emailed it because I have to constantly redownload the diigo bookmark app (due to deep freeze) and couldn't be bothered that day. i find the migration to cloud-based storage interesting...i ditched my usb drive over a year ago to store everything online. i have some documents on google docs, and some in dropbox....but (knock on wood), it hasn't been a problem so far to actually get to my items. the only problem is relying on school-based networks. but then again, schools that implement ipads would have the same problems, and i think more can be created/done with a laptop, so maybe google is on to something. my ipad2 arrived yesterday, and i got a bit tired of holding it at a nice viewing angle (i know, i have weak arms), so this morning, i am doing my online stuff from laptop. i think i'll have to buy a nice stand for it before i can start to use it as much as my laptop.

I think the approach that we need to consider is how to help students manage their lives (at least their academic ones) with technology. We need to figure out what the parameters are, and then find ways to teach this. A noble and challenging idea since like all of us students are drawn to allure of the digital world. As stated in the article: "If you break off the Internet, so what? They've got 3G on their phones and iPads,'' he said. "Instead, come up with a rule and express it."

And to help students manage online and real life interactions, teachers need to get that experience first-hand, so they know what it's like. (Yet, governing bodies like the Ontario College of Teachers recently announced teachers should not use any social media.)

I think that as a group we need to address the issue of how to approach managing wireless technology in the class. Just based on the chatter following the student's presentation and what has surfaced in our own group. If we don't examine this issue then it will end up undermining most of what we try and accomplish.

I totally agree. I'm not sure if you saw on twitter, but the Coquitlam school district is putting in fibre-optics and will be creating a digital code of conduct so that students can bring/use devices in class.
