"We're often asked why we wish to use small aircraft for these runs. The ground team, traveling by road, will spend around 3 hours getting to first drop site. By comparison total flight time for this initial run to all 20 communities will take just over one hour in our Rotax powered CH701. Attempting this trip would require more than a week difficult travel by road, and would still not reach all 20 communities. These first drops are more about first contact and relationship building. Future drops will contain more community specific health education materials and training invitations."

Our Girls With Wings Summer Scholarship Application Window is now open. Yes, we just have to find more people who deserve funds for flight training! We just announced three winners for our Spring Program and we're looking for applicants for the Summer Program. Please tell everyone you know about the scholarship so we have another great pool of potentials from which to choose. Flying is expensive, as well all know, and these funds could make the difference in someone's life!

Members of the WASP reported to Avenger Field, in wind swept Sweetwater, Texas for an arduous 6-month training program. Lee was accepted into the 4th class, 43 W 4. Hazel Ying Lee was the first Chinese American woman to fly for the United States military.

2011 NASA Academy The NASA Academies offer a ten-week summer experience for college students with emphasis on immersive and integrated multi-disciplinary exposure and training. Activities include laboratory research, a group project, lectures, meetings with experts and administrators, visits to NASA centers and space-related industries, and technical presentations. Students learn how NASA and its centers operate, gain experience in world-class laboratories, and participate in leadership development and team-building activities.

Piper built almost 20,000 Cubs between 1938 and 1947. The Cub turned out to be the perfect training aircraft.  The airplane was economical to operate, easy to fly, and easy to maintain.  Spare parts were plentiful and the A-65 engine was the most common light airplane engine of the era.
