  • when we base decisions on fear, not fact; when we allow emotions and not science to dictate responses; or when we ignore reality for perceived political or financial gain, we do a disservice to our family, our friends, our neighbors, our communities and to the fabric of our society.
  • These types of reactions have been prevalent in our overall approach to the treatment of the disease of addiction for longer than I wish to remember.

  • We will not significantly change public opinion through traditional means.
  • risk their political capital like Vermont’s Governor Shumlin and make a real difference?
  • by educating through the back door; by engaging on Twitter and on Facebook and on Instagram, and by illustrating the consequences of denial as it relates to the financial and societal costs of not more aggressively funding and treating the disease.
  • based on medical and legal truths to reach a wider audience and to change hearts and minds by destigmatizing and demystifying the disease of addiction.

Medicine on the Move (MoM) - 0 views

  •
"Medicine on the Move (MoM) improves lives of West Africans through community-based healthcare education - In West Africa, many communities are remote and can be difficult to access. Villagers may have to travel long distances to reach professional clinics. In the absence of trained health professionals, many utilize traditional remedies -- not all of which are reliable and some of which may result in further complications or infections. Consequently, many preventable morbidities and mortalities occur on a regular basis. MoM's mission is to empower villagers to improve the health of their community members through extensive healthcare training, provision of healthcare-related material, and development of a support structure between remote villages. "In an era when women are increasingly prominent in medicine, law and business, why are there so few women scientists and engineers? With Why So Few?, AAUW presents compelling evidence that can help to explain this puzzle. The research report presents in-depth yet accessible profiles of eight key research findings that point to environmental and social barriers - including stereotypes, gender bias and the climate of science and engineering departments in colleges and universities - that continue to block women's participation and progress in science, technology, engineering, and math."

"Two Americans shared this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry for deciphering the communication system that the human body uses to sense the outside world and send messages to cells - for example, speeding the heart when danger approaches. The understanding is aiding the development of new drugs. The winners, Dr. Robert J. Lefkowitz, 69, a professor at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C., and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute researcher, and Dr. Brian K. Kobilka, 57, a professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine in California, "

Medicine on the Move - Let the Drops begin!! - 0 views

  •
"We're often asked why we wish to use small aircraft for these runs. The ground team, traveling by road, will spend around 3 hours getting to first drop site. By comparison total flight time for this initial run to all 20 communities will take just over one hour in our Rotax powered CH701. Attempting this trip would require more than a week difficult travel by road, and would still not reach all 20 communities. These first drops are more about first contact and relationship building. Future drops will contain more community specific health education materials and training invitations."

HAY FEVER, ALLERGY, AND ASTHMA - 0 views

"Hay fever, allergy, and asthma - a lot of people use these terms interchangeably. In reality, they are completely different disorders. Use of the terms and medications incorrectly can have far reaching implications, including possible grounding by the FAA. Treatment is often available, both by over the counter and prescription medicines, but only a few medications may be used while flying."

Our trip to Oshkosh this year, a proven necessary part of out aviation connection presence, will be extra special. Lydia will be travelling and will be sharing her story with many as she is in the USA for 2 weeks. Lydia is really progressing and has a desire to change other peoples lives in relation to health and technology so that others do not have to suffer as she has. We will be 'based' out of the Zenith stand, and would love to share with any who attend Oshkosh WHY we use the Zenith aircraft and also how we carry out the bag- and bottle-drops as well as a sneak peak into the planned skid-drop concepts we are currently working on.
