"Take a Spin on the Centrifuge (MIT Engineering K-12 Video Pilot)
This video uses Man-Vehicle Lab's human centrifuge to discuss centripetal force and countermeasures for astronaut bone and muscle loss in space. It shows the mathematics required to calculate centripetal force, and performs an experiment on the centrifuge with an "astronaut.""
"K-12math.info is a bibliographic information system used by elementary and secondary school mathematics material developers, teacher trainers, resource professionals and home schooling parents.
K-12math.info uses a list of 1,000 of the most common terms that appear in elementary and secondary school student editions of mathematics textbooks. It tracks which textbook contain which terms, on what page (for OER materials a link to where the term can be found), for what grade level, and how the term is being used. Information has been collected since the early 1970's to the present Open Education Resource (OER) textbooks series. And displayed in a spreadsheet format. "
"National Environmental Education Week (EE Week), the nation's largest environmental education event held each year the week before Earth Day, inspires environmental learning and stewardship among K-12 students. EE Week connects educators with environmental resources to promote K-12 students' understanding of the environment. EE Week is a program of the National Environmental Education Foundation. "
NASA K-12 activities - In the paper airplane activity students select and build one of five different paper airplane designs and test them for distance and for time aloft. Part of this activity is designed to explore NASA developed software, FoilSim, with respect to the lift of an airfoil and the surface area of a wing.
Educational researchers have found that K-12 students and teachers generally have a poor conception of what engineers do. In one study, a majority of K-12 students expressed the view that engineers build buildings and fix things, particularly cars, rather than improve existing technologies or design new ones. A small but significant minority of students, about 10 percent, confound engineers with those who drive trains.
"Promotes engineering thinking and practice in formal and informal educational settings for pre-K through high school aged students, their teachers, group leaders, and caregivers. We also engage in shared scholarship to determine better ways to accomplish our goals, assess our impacts, and evaluate our progress. We seek to open the doors to engineering to all young people as a future career or as a way of finding solutions to everyday challenges."
"The TeachEngineering Digital Library exists to provide teachers with the curricular materials to bring engineering into the K-12 classroom for a single day, a unit, or even an entire course"
"Engineering education in K-12 classrooms is a small but growing phenomenon that may have implications for engineering and also for the other STEM subjects--science, technology, and mathematics. Specifically, engineering education may improve student learning and achievement in science and mathematics, increase awareness of engineering and the work of engineers, boost youth interest in pursuing engineering as a career, and increase the technological literacy of all students. The teaching of STEM subjects in U.S. schools must be improved in order to retain U.S. competitiveness in the global economy and to develop a workforce with the knowledge and skills to address technical and technological issues."

"Engineering: An Introduction for High School is an open-source high school "flexbook" created using software developed by the CK-12 Foundation by engineering and education faculty at Arizona State University. The flexbook format allows the book to be customized for multiple audiences. The text can be updated, expanded, and repurposed as necessary to support specific standards and classroom needs. The current draft has four content chapters that cover the nature of engineering, engineering and society, engineering design, and the connection between engineering, science, and mathematics."
The Super Book of Web Tools for Educators
There are many teachers who want to start using technology in their classrooms, but just aren't sure where to start. That's why I got together ten prominent ed tech bloggers, teachers, and school administrators to create The Super Book of Web Tools for Educators. In this book there introductions to more than six dozen web tools for K-12 teachers. Additionally, you will find sections devoted to using Skype with students, ESL/ELL, blogging in elementary schools, social media for educators, teaching online, and using technology in alternative education settings."

"Life outside the classroom for the seventh grader ( age 12).
Why does mathematics exist?
Every learning community has a need to quantify some aspects in its environment. Its language(s), economic and social environment determines how much content will be adopted and adapted to meet those aspects. Unfortunately increase globalization is bringing about changes. "
"The Engineering is Elementary® (EiE) project fosters engineering and technological literacy among children. EiE has created a research-based, standards-driven, and classroom-tested curriculum that integrates engineering and technology concepts and skills with elementary science topics. EiE lessons not only promote K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning, but also connect with literacy and social studies."
