Real World Design Challenge - 1 views

  •
"The Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) is an annual competition that provides high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges in a team environment. Each year, student teams will be asked to address a challenge that confronts our nation's leading industries. Students will utilize professional engineering software to develop their solutions and will also generate presentations that convincingly demonstrate the value of their solutions. The RWDC provides students with opportunities to apply the lessons of the classroom to the technical problems that are being faced in the workplace."

GEOSET Global Educational Outreach for Science Engineering and Technology - 0 views

  •
"The Global Educational Outreach (GEO) initiative uses new technology to provide outstanding Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) teaching material. It is a highly flexible medium enabling a wide range of different educational approaches to be explored and it is particularly useful for SET teachers who will find valuable downloadable teaching resource material created by the best science and technology experts and educators. A key aim is to catalyse the creation of a global network of participating sites catering to the local and global need for much improved SET education. The material on this website is free to view and download!"

Model Eliciting Activities - 1 views

  •
"Model Eliciting Activities (MEAs) are open-ended, engineering-based interdisciplinary problems (e.g., science, mathematics, English language arts) that requires students to create solutions in the form of mathematical and scientific models that reveal their thinking about concepts embedded in the problem. Engineering is the applied context for MEAs as students work in teams to iteratively develop, test, and revise their models to provide a solution for a fictitious client. These engaging problems encourage students to utilize a variety of skills including critically reading texts, applying problem-solving strategies, working mathematically, and communicating effectively with teammates to arrive at a solution, or model.
