Wow! SC has added a lodge in Fort Mill a few weeks ago and now one in Pendleton. In recent years, there have been Conway & Little river. Perhaps one more. All this made more possible by the change in the numbers needed (from 100 to 50) to request dispensation to form a lodge! I wonder who had the timerity to propose such a resolution?? PENDLETON - A new Pendleton Elks Lodge will be instituted this weekend. About 75 members will be part of the ceremony set to start at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Greenville Elks Lodge, said Jim Vogel, a spokesman for the Pendleton Lodge. Ceremonies on Saturday include institution of the new lodge, initiation of new members and installation of officers, Vogel said. The Greenville lodge is at 7700 Pelham Road.

Bobbie Galbraith has been an active member of the Petaluma Elks Lodge No. 901 for eight years, but never imagined that she'd be nominated as the club's first woman to serve as exalted ruler (president). That all changed Tuesday night with the installation of Exalted Ruler Virginia Quintero, the first woman in Lodge #672 to reach the top job. "I finally made it there," Quintero said before the ceremony and presentation of her jewels of office - "and the gavel, of course." "I'm very excited, very happy ... and my family's all excited," the 63-year-old nurse said of her elevation to Exalted Ruler. "I don't think they'll treat me differently - but I hope they might," she joked.

Members of the Elks Club, located at the intersection of 10th Street and Knox Avenue, demanded an apology from the city and disciplinary action against at least one officer for police behavior during a July 19 incident. Speaking at the Monessen council agenda meeting Monday, club members said police overreacted when they entered the club in response to an incident outside the club.
