"ONEIDA - The Oneida Elks Lodge 767 will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of establishing headquarters at 191 Main St. on May 30 from 3-6 p.m. at the lodge.
There will be refreshments served and Back to the Country will perform on the porch.
"We have one of the nicest lodge facilities in the whole Central New York district," said Don Skinner, Elks trustee. "This building is a very historic part of downtown Oneida. I'd hate to ever see it go.""
"If you drive by the Elks Lodge at Fourth Street and Ute Avenue and think you would like to see inside, you will have that chance Saturday, when the Elks host a benefit concert to support the Legends Historic Sculptures Project."
"On April 24, 1914 the Muskegon Elks dedicated a new lodge building at the southwest corner of Western Avenue and Second Street. It was a bit of deja vu, because exactly two years earlier the local Elks club had gone through a similar dedication and at the same spot"
"In January 1910, thirty-five American gentlemen instituted Bremerton Washington Elks Lodge No 1181 and laid the foundation, which has enabled them to grow and prosper into a successful link in the great chain of Elks"
"Have you ever wondered where the Elks got their start or where they have been located over the last 100 years? Well, I will see if I can help answer that question."
Nice building. Lots of good community activities. BUT, we are a fraternal organization and our charitable works "are an outgrowth of the strong bonds of friendship forged by the fires of the Home Lodge"
