Amazon USA startet Kindle MatchBook - buchreport - Nachrichten OnlineNachrich... - 0 views

Why Netflix for eBooks won't work. Today. | FutureBook - 0 views

  • It does leave that group of super-readers as a target market. The key question there is are there enough of them to sustain a scalable business?   So, in summary I think that buy in from major and minor publishers alike for front list titles will be difficult to get. Like many innovations and early-stage concepts it will take a few brave publishers to go all-in and accept the consequences

Can Charlie Redmayne Lead HarperCollins UK to Victory? | Publishing Perspectives - 0 views

  • One of the things I tried to do at Pottermore [the Harry Potter online experience and e-store which he headed up from 2009 to 2011] was to start thinking beyond the business that is ebooks. Now, ebooks are going to be a hugely important part of what we do, and a growing marketplace and a fantastic way for people to read books. But it’s not the limit of digital opportunity.

BookBub Closing In on Two Million Members - 0 views

  • “Readers loved the idea of a regular e-mail featuring flash sales on e-books, but we soon realized that the service would work best if it featured titles from all publishers and authors.” So, in early 2012, he and Nicholas Ciarelli, who has a background in digital media, founded BookBub, a daily deal site for e-books based in Cambridge, Mass.

Getting Kindles into Indie Bookstores Isn't Going to Be Easy | Publishing Perspectives - 0 views

  • But Wohlsen remains skeptical of Amazon’s chances of success with their strategic reach to indies. “They’re attempting to acquire independent bookstores’ customers for two years of commission,” says Steve Bercu, co-owner of BookPeople in Austin, Texas, and current president of the ABA. “This is simply in general not aligned with the interests of most independents.” And as you might expect, the ABA has rejected the idea outright

No, Larry Page and Sergey Brin are not to blame for the decline of the media industry -... - 0 views

  • The idea that Larry Page and Sergey Brin somehow owe it to society to invest in journalism — because their company has allegedly siphoned billions of dollars in advertising revenue out of the newspaper industry — is just plain wrong-headed

Word for Word: Don't buy the myth about ebook slump - Book News | Literature & Book Rev... - 0 views

  • . Ebooks have no more peaked than digital music or social media usage has peaked. While it is certainly true that some publishers have seen a softening of sales in 2013, that is mostly because 2012 was such a huge success in ebook terms, especially for certain titles like Fifty Shades of Grey and The Hunger Games. Sadly no titles have quite grabbed readers like those record- breaking books did, so sales have suffered.
