The big data market is seeing vibrant activity. Oracle bought marketing tech startup BlueKai for about $400m in February. BlueKai offers a data management system that allows marketers to personalise marketing campaigns and measure how well their campaigns reach certain types of people.
The definitive definition of big data from the experts for the kids (and adults, too). Jonathan Birch, Head of Architecture at NTT DATA "Imagine trying to finish the last page of your colouring book, but suddenly you find that you've got more crayons than you know what to do with.
Cloud to take up three-quarters of data centre traffic by 2018, says Cisco. Cisco's annual Global Cloud Index (GCI) reveals the latest findings and predictions on data centre traffic and cloud computing between 2013 and 2018. CBR highlights five need-to-know predictions from the report's findings. 1.
cloud computing is highly inconvenient to keep data in memory and exhaust the space as the data is not only confidential but also very large to be accessible with ease. However, cloud computing has made this access very easy and storage very convenient.
Modern technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science have become popular but no one completely understands it.
Let see how they differ from each other at-
Bridges are an integral and important part of the road system and are of strategic importance in the transportation industry, so ensuring the safe condition of bridges is of great concern. Suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges and other bridges that need to be tensed by cables are also faced with the risk of fatigue or even break during long-term use. Periodical shutdown bridge detection is not a good choice because of the busy traffic, so a system that can carry out long-term monitoring during the service of Bridges has great advantages. Experimental investigation shows that acoustic emission is the best technology to detect bridge wire break. It can not only carry out sensitive and accurate long-term monitoring, but also it is a non-intrusive method. RAEM1 acoustic emission monitoring system developed by Qingcheng Company is the latest product based on Linux operating system. It can accurately monitor the broken signal of the bridge wire, calculate the wire break rate, and trigger the alarm to the operator when the broken wire limit is exceeded, so that maintenance plans can be made in advance to ensure the safe service of the bridge.
Working Process
Sound wave(Acoustic emission) signals will be generated due to bridge wire broken.
The sensor sample the wire break signals and transmit them to the RAEM1 monitor for data analyzing and processing.
RAEM monitor transmits the processed data to the PC/ Phones/ Servers/ Cloud through network communication.
The Qingcheng Cloud Platform or Software can display the wire condition in real time, including Hits, Duration, Rise time, Counts, Amplitude, ASL, RMS and Energy.
The RAEM1 monitor can perform intensity, activity and comprehensive rating of acoustic signals in real time and transmit the results to the defined terminals.
When the rating results exceed the alarm threshold, the Cloud Server will push alarm message to owner via SMS or email automatically.

Digital Economy Bill will see its second reading today in the House of Commons. An association of local councils has supported plans for Ofcom to be able to require broadband providers to share data so that people can more easily see the speeds they will get in their actual home, rather than just in the local area.
Teradata rolls out a number of analytics enhancements. One of the problems with hybrid cloud is the impact that it has on data analytics as it often results in difficulties in locating data, and slows the whole process. Teradata believes it has solved this problem with Borderless Analytics.
Any cinema-goer will know that Kevin Bacon "don't like waiting for anything" - but what of us, the British public? We are now constantly wired into the internet, streaming videos and updating social media profiles, and 4G is a big part of this. CBR rounds up the biggest 4G data bundles out there.
C-level briefing: Mark Wilkinson, MD, UK & Ireland SAS, on his rivaldiscusses rival SAP, the Big Data skills gap and Analytics-as-a-Service. There is a lot of competition in the Big Data market, but also a lot of collaboration between large vendors. So if you are competing in overlapping markets tensions can grow.
