I deal with the results of this weekly on my job as tech coordinator and tech teacher. Parents so afraid of the stranger danger that they don't want us to use the tools that allow the students to develop good digital citizenship skills.

7 Days to Rediscovering Your Blogging Groove - 0 views

  •
Each day over the next week I'm going to announce a new type of post that I'll invite you to write on your blog. I'll attempt to make them general enough to for most types of blogs (some of you might need to get a little creative) and will write a few ideas and thoughts on how to approach the type of post that I'm writing about. I'll also try to give a few good examples from around the blogosphere of each type of post.

Student blog post with movie about blogging. Through out the year I have presented to hundreds of visitors all about BLOGGING and I have really enjoyed it. When I present, pictures pop up on a screen above and they show what blogging can do and what it can be about. I am just one of the group of presenters including; Cruz, Leoden, Sela, Helen and Paulitia. We all talk about something we are really good at. We wrote our own scripts and practised them until we got the hang of them.

How amazing is that! My students talking to the earthquake victims, before they had even seen the news on TV! Surely this shows the absolute power of the web and the direction that education may take. It can now be  immediate. Students feel  personal  empathy as world experiences take on a whole new perspective when speaking directly with the victims. Is this a glimpse of web3.0?

the blogging guidelines our elementary students developed last school year during their first experiences blogging. Interestingly, the guidelines our grade 4 students created last year were just as applicable to middle (and high) school as they were for elementary. We ended up using almost all of the guidelines from last year, with just a few minor re-phrasing issues and consolidation.

Criteria for moderating comments on a viral video » Moving at the Speed of Cr... - 0 views

  •
One of the first issues which immediately arose, after I realized the video was receiving thousands of views and hundreds of comments on Tuesday, was to decide on a personal criteria for comment moderation. Initially, I decided to remove comments which contained profanity or which were disparaging / demeaning to my daughter, Sarah. While I was tempted to just approve comments which were positive and supportive of Sarah, it is true that she made some factual errors in her video which commenters were quick to highlight.
