Ultimately, A Matter Of Scale is a book about survival; about ensuring that every individual human has the means to save herself or himself from the crisis that is unfolding. And there most certainly is a crisis; like the waves of a surging river; small and irregular at first, but growing larger, creating whirlpools, rising in treacherous white water, and eventually inundating everything in its path. "Quince activistas de entre 11 y 24 años de América Latina y el Caribe cuentan aquí sus iniciativas para combatir el cambio climático al hilo del Día Internacional del Niño 2020 Limpiar las playas cercanas a su casa en Anconcito, en Ecuador. Reciclar los plásticos que llegan hasta la Laguna del Sauce, en Uruguay. Defender la comunidad sateré-mawé de Manaus, en la Amazonía de Brasil, amenazada por la acción de madereros ilegales, la quema de bosques y la explotación minera.... Son tres acciones locales, de Axel, Sofía y de Samela, pero se pondrían contar otras miles que ocurren cada día, en cada rincón de América Latina y el Caribe y que se han puesto en marcha para frenar el cambio climático. "Si no ganamos esta lucha contra el clima, no ganaremos ninguna otra", apunta uno de estas jóvenes."
