NEEMIAS - II - PORTAS DA ALMA - 0 views

  •

O fundo

NEEMIAS - VIII - O INTERCESSOR - 0 views

  • Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
    • dldeskins

Some commentators have said that this wind of the Holy Spirti was not just the gentle breeze. The Holy Spirit was making himself known. It was the sound of "a train going by"... that is, not quiet.

ἦχος ēchos ay'-khos Of uncertain affinity; a loud or confused noise ("echo"), that is, roar; figuratively a rumor: - fame, sound.
  •  1When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
    • dldeskins

The "day of Pentecost" was on a Sunday. That is, 50 days after Passover (a Sabbath).
  • tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them
    • dldeskins

Tongues was not limited here, as the "gift of tongues" would be (see 1Co 12). Here everyone that believed received the Holy Spirit, and as a sign, spoke in other tongues. Paul talks about speaking in the "tongues of men and of angels" but clearly here, those that spoke in tongues ware clearly a sign to, and understood by, the non-believing Jews that were present.

  • 8Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 1 >0Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs-we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!"

  • 7Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
    • dldeskins

Galileans - The meaning here is that these were not "educated" people like the Romans or Greeks.
  • 13Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine.[b]"
    • dldeskins

Not sure about this. Why would the non-believing crowd think that they were drunk? Yes, they were probably in the middle of a feast and wine was available, but it was only 9am. What about their actions made the non-believing crowd think that they were drunk.

It may have been because they heard so many languages all at once and each only understood his own native toungue. So the sound in general may have been like babeling (although the foreigners clearly understood the message in their own language).

The Jews in Jerusalem were not there to party. They were devout people (men?)
    • anonymous

It seems from verse 2 that this event was not at the temple but at a house so there may well have been women and children in the crowd as well as men. Most likly- in that culture and the crowd being "devout" - the women & children would be quiet and respectful in public.
  • 6When they heard this sound
    • dldeskins

Again, this was a loud sound... a comotion. The Holy Spirit had made His presence known.
    • anonymous

As throughout the accounts given to us in scripture - here again, the Lord honored and confirmed His Word using these supernatural events at the initialization of His church -the body of Christ!

Ester capítulo 6 "A soberba precede a ruína e a altivez do espírito precede a queda."
