This video is specific to how Google's search works, and helps students differentiate between Google search results and the ads that appear on the same page.
How Search Works:
This is a great resource for teachers looking to limit their students' searches to a collection of specific sites. Try creating a quick search to test it.
I have used this site for several years. It creates an advanced search in Google. You can designate a search for .edu, .gov sites or encyclopedias (good for pre-searching, etc.).
I like that you can refine your search and also that the interface is very similar to Google, so kids will be comfortable with it. You can also limit your search to certain sites such as educational, dictionaries, or government. There is also a pop up word feature to help you take notes as you research.
When striving to name a concept with great precision, it helps to understand synonyms, hypernyms and hyponyms. Knowing how to apply these nyms will sharpen your search skills and enhance your keyword formation.
