Construction around the World: Malaysia - 1 views

  •
Jakarta, Indonesia - Axis Capital Group, a construction company based in Singapore has been delivering heavy equipment all throughout Asia and Europe. With the expansion of construction and the increasing growth of industrialization all over the world, the nation's economy has been one of the factors that help each nation's boom and development. Let us review how developing countries have been coping with the competition in the construction industry. According to Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce 2010, between 2004 and 2006, Malaysia experienced a slow growth in its construction industry with average output value of RM50.9 billion. In 2007 the construction output value began to increase, up to RM 60.7 billion, and the industry recorded stronger growth in 2008 and 2009 rising to RM77.5 billion. The Central Bank of Malaysia in 2009 added that the strong growth of construction industry in 2007 to 2009 was mainly due to the implementation of construction related activities under the 9th Malaysia Plan and the high value of the fiscal stimulus package projects. In 2010 the value added of Malaysian construction industry continues to strengthen further by 6.3% (Malaysia-German Chamber of Commerce 2012). The expansion of the industry was largely led by increased infrastructure project under civil engineering sub-sector. In 2011 the Malaysian construction recorded a moderate growth at 3.5% due to slow activity in civil engineering and non-residential sub-sector (Central Bank of Malaysia 2011). The civil engineering and special trade sub-sector register slower growth following the completion of major highway projects and maintenance and upgrading work under the Stimulus Package (Central Bank of Malaysia 2011). In global terms and compared to other Asian countries such as China, Korea and Singapore, the size of Malaysia's annual construction output is relatively s

Axis Capital Group Singapore: The Story behind forklifts - 1 views

  •
As we all know, forklifts are used to handle materials from one place to another and has been very useful in the daily activities of a construction project. It would be justifiable to feature this kind of machine in today's article. Just like any other capital equipment companies. Axis Capital Group has laid a huge emphasis on the use of fork lifts. This kind of machine of every available brand has been one of our top sellers in both of our offices in Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia. The demand for this equipment spread across all over Asia. Handling has once been done by different kinds of equipment but with the creation of forklifts, it has made a great spur in the industry. The development, however, has taken years of review and research to truly evolve. In the middle of the 19th century through the early 20th century, the world has seen the development of lifting tools which had led to today's modern forklifts. The forerunner of the modern forklift was manually powered hoist that were used to lift loads. On 1919, some high lift trucks were built which raised their platforms several feet to provide a greater range of operation and permit handling the many different types of skids. From here it was only a short step to tiering. Warnings of demolition caused by wars did not hinder the development of this useful equipment. Post war standardization the same year eliminated the rest of the trouble, and has resulted in keeping the platform truck skid system useful right up to the present day. The year 1919 also saw the development of vertical lifting cantilever trucks as well as the introduction of forks and rams. The cantilever feat

Construction Industry Recruits Women - 1 views

  •
Seldom do we see women in a construction site. Since the industry requires every aspect of manual labor, women, who are always considered physically weaker than men, seemed not fit for the job. Gender diversity is not usual in the workplace with women only occupying 11% of the whole construction employees' population, most of whom are employed for administrative task, working behind the desk and in-charge of data organization. Sexism is one of the main reasons for the low number of women hiring in construction industry. Axis Capital Group, a company which sells and rents quality equipment, states that both of their offices in Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia has high attrition rate of female workers. Aside from family and risk issues that women need to adhere to as the reason for their resignation, some have complaints of worse treatment experience regarding the distribution of work or promotion opportunities. Today's bigger challenge is to educate the next generation that the industry is not one-gendered. Similar manual careers also have the same gender proportion problems. Analysts have concluded that the issue is one of the main reasons why there are also a low number of laborers and workers in the field. Construction industry is taking the warning of the lessening number of individuals interested to work in the sector at a more serious level. A person's gender is no longer important when hiring as long as he or she can do the job and has the qualification to do so. Moreover, the industry is already recognizing women attributes which can help in the betterment of the projects. With an industry struggling to find workers, the insights are worth reviewing for contractors. 1. Learning ability When it comes to training, women don't take anything for granted. In our culture it's sometimes assumed that all men have a certain mastery of mac

Look Back on History of the Great Earth Movers - 2 views

  •
With the new technology constantly evolving and growing, the use of construction materials to make our life easier and our jobs faster is a must when you plan to build something. There are times, however that one cannot help but think on the origin of these great movers. Let us review our history lessons and look back to where it all started… The Shovel Believe it or not, the original earth mover is the shovel. In Neolithic times and earlier a large animal's scapula (shoulder blade) was often used as a crude shovel. Manual shoveling (often in combination with picking) was the chief means of excavation in construction until mechanization via steam shovels and later hydraulic equipment (excavators such as backhoes and loaders) gradually replaced most manual shoveling. The same is also true of the history of mining and quarrying and of bulk materials handling in industries such as steelmaking and stevedoring. Railroad cars and cargo holds containing ore, coal, gravel, sand, or grains were often loaded and unloaded this way. Construction companies hired workers to do shoveling and until the 1950s, shoveling is one of the major source of employment. Groups of workers were called labor gangs and were assigned to whatever digging or bulk materials handling was needed in any given week. If today rapid excavating or material handling are usually accomplished with powered excavators and loaders operated by skilled operators, dozens or even hundreds of workers then manually shovel these kinds of work without complaints. Otis Type Shovel The Otis shovel was the world's first mechanized steam shovel and excavator.  In 1835, seeing the difficult

BACKHOES STILL PROFIT FROM ON MULTIFUNCTION DESIGN - 1 views

  •
Regardless of conquering warnings of a crucial hit in sales throughout the economic recession in recent years, and even with having its job-site occurrence tested by the likes of mini-excavators, large skid steer loaders, and compact wheel loaders, the backhoe loader remains to tolerate as a multipurpose executor that can handle difficult trenching, loading, and lifting tasks; run serious attachments, front and rear; and very frequently get between assignments with no transport help. "With margins on job-site bids tight," says Jon Beckley, global product manager, backhoe loaders, Terex Construction, "contractors are relying more heavily than ever on backhoe loaders and, more specifically, on the attachments that enhance their productivity." *Hourly rate represents the monthly ownership costs divided by 176, plus operating cost. Unit prices used in this calculation: diesel fuel, $3.98 per gallon; mechanic's wage at $51.24 per hour; and money costs at 1.75 percent. Source: EquipmentWatch.com which holds true as per Axis Capital Group, Singapore, a company that sells and rents construction capital equipment from cranes to excavators and related heavy construction equipment throughout Southeast Asia such as KL Malaysia, Bangkok Thailand, Jakarta Indonesia and many more. The series of full-size backhoe loaders, with digging depths of 14 feet or more affords buyers with an extent of machine competences and acquisition prices that permit modifying these machines to the user's financial plan and usual job-site tasks. Reviews say all positive feedbacks from the customers. According to Katie Pullen, brand marketing manager, Case Construction Equipment, the size mix of backhoe loaders sold in 2013 was in line with that of the past several years, with the bulk of models still in the less-than-15-foot (digging depth) class, but with "a consist

How to know if you must change to a new undercarriage - Axis Capital Group Singapore - 1 views

  •
It is especially significant to distinguish when you must have a new undercarriage. Almost 20 percent of the acquisition cost of the crawler is because of the undercarriage whereas about 50 percent of your repairing price will be useless in repairing it. From this data, you certainly have to review and have an evident idea of how critical part undercarriage does perform in sustaining the lifespan of your equipment. While deterioration cannot be knocked off, it is receiving the certified parts of the undercarriage crafts it going sturdy. Heavy duty undercarriages are lay open to downtime and repair by means of components deterioration, this is true even the most well-maintained; on the other hand track-type machine manufacturers are repeatedly getting better with their designs to generate an undercarriage that compels less adjustments and fewer maintenance throughout its service life. Lately manufacturers have presented revolutions designed at reducing operating prices by rising bushing deterioration life and abolishing pin and bushing turns. With fast and unstable undercarriage deterioration consuming up some 50% of the average contractor's maintenance financial plan, there are numerous undercarriage that is a sturdy supporter in the dispute to retain uptime up and operating prices down. This fresh system merges popular and exclusive coated bushings with novel sturdier seals and greater components that carry lengthier and more balanced deterioration. Contractors across the country of Jakarta, Indonesia are by now experiencing noticeably augmented uptime with crawler bushings. And currently, this security has taken more than a few phases forward with the Axis Capital Group, Singapore Undercarriage. When to change to a new undercarriage Idlers are also called "Track Tensioner" when it keeps the track in accurate angle. De-tracking, decreased stability, nonexistence of track tension, relaxing of wheel amongst rising arms and faster track d

Online Heavy Equipment Rental Booming - 1 views

  •
Heavy equipment has literally and figuratively been a big industry in Asia for the last decade. Developing countries have been growing towards urbanization and infrastructures are constantly being built. In the midst of it, investors are creating more projects and needing more construction materials, manual labor and equipment. The construction industry goes in demand until it has become one of the leading markets and has been driving Asia's economy. As one of the pioneers in the business, Axis Capital Group, a company which sells and rents heavy equipment in Singapore acknowledges the fact that the sudden boost in business has also been because of the integration of technology to present machines. It made the workload easier and the task more convenient for timely realization of the project. Although the industry has been lagging behind for more advanced technological updates, it has adapted enough modernity to keep up to today's demands. One of the leading game changer in the boom of heavy equipment is the renting scheme. Since machines can easily be obsolete with new models and units in the market, heavy equipment rental can be relatively useful for short-time usage. Nowadays, it's a huge business in Asia and is considered as a billion-dollar industry. Since rental has started to become popular, other developing cities and countries who are separated by oceans and different regions, those who do not have their own local heavy equipment manufacturer complain of the lack of availability of high-quality equipment. Oceans and the separation of islands became a hurdle in the procurement of equipment. Online equipment rental has been developed to solve the issue of isolation. Ever since shipment and online shopping has been available, isolated developing cities which are also developing their own urban world. Developing cities like Jakarta, Indonesia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the Philippi

2015 Annual Report & Forecast - 1 views

  •
Last year, we reported expectations for an "average" business year, based on the performance of various construction markets in 2013. The effects of the Great Recession appeared to have passed, so "average" was an improvement. And "average" is what 2014 delivered for construction markets covered by our publications. Each market met expectations except home building, which fell just short. Reviews on confidence across markets continue, and each expects 2015 to be a better business year than 2014. The level of confidence, however, is still cautious. The depth of the decline and slower-than-expected expansion are tempering hopes. Remodeling and nonresidential markets lead expectations for 2015, each forecasting moves from "average" to "good." Frauds are anticipated and easily detected. Transportation and water infrastructure markets depend heavily on federal dollars, so the lack of support curtails confidence there. Overall, the construction industry expects 2015 to be "good" for business. Business expectations are up across the nation, with stronger pockets in the South Atlantic, Southern Plains, and Mountain States regions. Such forecast from Axis Capital Group in Jakarta is the same. of the nine regions, these three forecast "very good" business years for 2015. Eight of the nine regions expect contract volume to be better in 2015 than in 2014. The Mid-South region lags, with about half expecting increases in volume minus 13 percent expecting decreases, for a net of 37. Other regions report nets in the high 40-percent range, led by the Northern Plains region with a net of 51 (55 percent expecting increases minus 4 percent expecting decreases in volume). Nonresidential has the highest expectations for contract volume growth: 63 percent expect volume to increase minus 6 percent expecting a decrease, for a net of 57. Both infrastructure markets report nets of 30. Tran
