BACKHOES STILL PROFIT FROM ON MULTIFUNCTION DESIGN - 1 views

  •
Regardless of conquering warnings of a crucial hit in sales throughout the economic recession in recent years, and even with having its job-site occurrence tested by the likes of mini-excavators, large skid steer loaders, and compact wheel loaders, the backhoe loader remains to tolerate as a multipurpose executor that can handle difficult trenching, loading, and lifting tasks; run serious attachments, front and rear; and very frequently get between assignments with no transport help. "With margins on job-site bids tight," says Jon Beckley, global product manager, backhoe loaders, Terex Construction, "contractors are relying more heavily than ever on backhoe loaders and, more specifically, on the attachments that enhance their productivity." *Hourly rate represents the monthly ownership costs divided by 176, plus operating cost. Unit prices used in this calculation: diesel fuel, $3.98 per gallon; mechanic's wage at $51.24 per hour; and money costs at 1.75 percent. Source: EquipmentWatch.com which holds true as per Axis Capital Group, Singapore, a company that sells and rents construction capital equipment from cranes to excavators and related heavy construction equipment throughout Southeast Asia such as KL Malaysia, Bangkok Thailand, Jakarta Indonesia and many more. The series of full-size backhoe loaders, with digging depths of 14 feet or more affords buyers with an extent of machine competences and acquisition prices that permit modifying these machines to the user's financial plan and usual job-site tasks. Reviews say all positive feedbacks from the customers. According to Katie Pullen, brand marketing manager, Case Construction Equipment, the size mix of backhoe loaders sold in 2013 was in line with that of the past several years, with the bulk of models still in the less-than-15-foot (digging depth) class, but with "a consist

Construction Firms turns to IT for Project Management - 1 views

  •
Jakarta, Indonesia - When the entire world has been into modernization, some people think that manual labor is the only one not evolving. Well, think again. Even when the construction industry has been adamant to change, builders are now beginning to be dragged into the 21st century by the need to collaborate more closely with their more IT-savvy colleagues, the architects and engineers responsible for the ideas behind their work. Laptops are gradually making an appearance alongside the hard hats of the building site. is this just keeping with the evolving times or are there any other issues that drive the industry to modernization? Reducing risk One of the major factors for this change is that it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain profit margins on building projects. Mindful of high-profile project delivery delays, many commercial or public sector clients have introduced financial penalty clauses in case deadlines are missed. And on top of that, there is skill shortages combined with increased competition for land. Yet often, profits are eaten away by practical issues - delays in receiving drawings, use of outdated data, inaccuracies caused by human error. In some cases of global projects, it is easier to use the latest in technology to bring help from abroad. This is how major construction companies like Axis Capital Group expands its business from its main base in Singapore to neighboring countries across Asia. As a result, the whole of the architecture, engineering and construction industry is looking for ways to reduce risk and maintain its bottom line. On a day-to-day level it is also struggling with the need to communicate and review project drawings and share proliferating number of associated documents that are usually too large to send by e-mail. Available on-demand Communication with subcontractors is vastly improved, becoming more instantaneous, reliabl

Axis Capital Group Singapore: Safety-time Out Implemented in Construction Sites - 1 views

  •
Singapore- More than 40 construction firms have joined a one-week "Safety Time Out" led by the National Crane Safety Taskforce. The movement was done as a show of concern towards the spate of workplace accidents related to crane activities since the beginning of this year. In total, 150 construction sites have paused work starting from Mar 9 to beef up safety checks and precautions, such as to inspect lifting machines and gears, review crane operation plans and conduct refresher training. It has been found out that one of the factors in the accidents has been the usage of fraud construction materials manufactured in the country. Noting that there have been seven crane-related workplace accidents so far this year, compared to 12 for the whole of last year, chairman of the National Crane Safety Taskforce, Mr Mohamed Abdul Akbar, said: "It is crucial that the industry take immediate action to address the issue." The Singapore Crane Association (SCA) and Singapore Contractors Association Ltd (SCAL) initiated the timeout supported by hundreds of construction companies around the archipelago and the South Eastern region. Axis Capital Group,, a construction company based in Singapore and has font-family: "Calibri","sans-serif"; font-size: 11.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-lang

Axis Capital Group Singapore: Electrical Problems in Heavy Equipment - 1 views

  •
Electrical problem is one of the most dangerous issues that a contractor or any construction-related company can face. Even some of the most expert technician, when faced with electrical problems blank out. With the project looming with the deadline, it is best to fix it fast. Unless you have purchased your machine from an online scam rampant nowadays which has a higher probability of unfixable parts, electrical issues in equipment can be fixed intuitively than with logic. Axis Capital Group, Singaporean-based company which sells and rents capital equipment across Asia admits that in electrical issues of their fleet, the problem is considered hazardous and grave. Because of the lack of expert hands in their branch in Jakarta, Indonesia, the company even deploys their technician from Singapore to fix the issue. The diagnosis can be different in each case. With mechanical problems, you can easily determine it through the noise, the condition of the hydraulics, shavings in the oil pan, smoke, idle movement and sometimes, even fire. In these cases, the problem can be easily identifiable. With electronics, it can be more drastic when the machine entirely stops. An expert technician studies schematics, mechanics, hydraulics and operations. In a sense, he never stops learning and reading. Some companies employ substandard technicians to lessen employment cost. However, this trend is strongly not advisable- and in some cases, illegal without the license and permit- as it poses a very hazardous risk not only for the operator but for the overall project and can jeopardize the name of the company. Your client may complain when you say that the usual diagnostic time would amount to 4 hours but this is the minimum time it would take for a technician to really know the problem behind electrical malfunction. Electrical diagnoses and repairs are the inverse of mechanical. A mechanic may diagnose in a few minu

Construction Industry Recruits Women - 1 views

  •
Seldom do we see women in a construction site. Since the industry requires every aspect of manual labor, women, who are always considered physically weaker than men, seemed not fit for the job. Gender diversity is not usual in the workplace with women only occupying 11% of the whole construction employees' population, most of whom are employed for administrative task, working behind the desk and in-charge of data organization. Sexism is one of the main reasons for the low number of women hiring in construction industry. Axis Capital Group, a company which sells and rents quality equipment, states that both of their offices in Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia has high attrition rate of female workers. Aside from family and risk issues that women need to adhere to as the reason for their resignation, some have complaints of worse treatment experience regarding the distribution of work or promotion opportunities. Today's bigger challenge is to educate the next generation that the industry is not one-gendered. Similar manual careers also have the same gender proportion problems. Analysts have concluded that the issue is one of the main reasons why there are also a low number of laborers and workers in the field. Construction industry is taking the warning of the lessening number of individuals interested to work in the sector at a more serious level. A person's gender is no longer important when hiring as long as he or she can do the job and has the qualification to do so. Moreover, the industry is already recognizing women attributes which can help in the betterment of the projects. With an industry struggling to find workers, the insights are worth reviewing for contractors. 1. Learning ability When it comes to training, women don't take anything for granted. In our culture it's sometimes assumed that all men have a certain mastery of mac

Make Sure You Don't Set your Machinery on Flames - 1 views

  •
Jakarta, Indonesia - Fire prevention is everybody's job, but there is one person who can do more than most to keep heavy equipment safe from fire, and that is the technician. The reason: most fires happen when something on the machine is neglected. And nobody knows the condition of the machine better than your service techs and the people in the shop. Fires are rare on new and well-maintained equipment. Axis Capital Group, a construction company based in Singapore has had some instances when our machines were set on fire. After few years in business, we have enough of reasons for you to review. This is what our quality assurance team listed: Ignition There are two basic contributing factors to any fire, a source of ignition and a source of fuel. Ignition can be a spark or a flame or just high heat, but in today's complex heavy equipment there can be multiple sources. Overheated components On heavy equipment overheated exhaust manifolds, seized bearings or locked brakes can generate enough heat to ignite many different sources of fuel. Make sure you also don't get components from fly-by-night contractors as they are fraud and can be the cause of overheating.

How to know if you must change to a new undercarriage - Axis Capital Group Singapore - 1 views

  •
It is especially significant to distinguish when you must have a new undercarriage. Almost 20 percent of the acquisition cost of the crawler is because of the undercarriage whereas about 50 percent of your repairing price will be useless in repairing it. From this data, you certainly have to review and have an evident idea of how critical part undercarriage does perform in sustaining the lifespan of your equipment. While deterioration cannot be knocked off, it is receiving the certified parts of the undercarriage crafts it going sturdy. Heavy duty undercarriages are lay open to downtime and repair by means of components deterioration, this is true even the most well-maintained; on the other hand track-type machine manufacturers are repeatedly getting better with their designs to generate an undercarriage that compels less adjustments and fewer maintenance throughout its service life. Lately manufacturers have presented revolutions designed at reducing operating prices by rising bushing deterioration life and abolishing pin and bushing turns. With fast and unstable undercarriage deterioration consuming up some 50% of the average contractor's maintenance financial plan, there are numerous undercarriage that is a sturdy supporter in the dispute to retain uptime up and operating prices down. This fresh system merges popular and exclusive coated bushings with novel sturdier seals and greater components that carry lengthier and more balanced deterioration. Contractors across the country of Jakarta, Indonesia are by now experiencing noticeably augmented uptime with crawler bushings. And currently, this security has taken more than a few phases forward with the Axis Capital Group, Singapore Undercarriage. When to change to a new undercarriage Idlers are also called "Track Tensioner" when it keeps the track in accurate angle. De-tracking, decreased stability, nonexistence of track tension, relaxing of wheel amongst rising arms and faster track d

Construction Industry Activity, Optimism Rise in 2014: Will it continue in 2015? - Axis... - 1 views

  •
John Crum discusses Wells Fargo Equipment Finance's Second-Half 2014 Construction Executive Survey, which reveals broad-based increases in construction activity compared to a year ago. More executives said they are seeing "somewhat higher" or "much higher" construction activity than at any time during the past five years. Twice each year, Wells Fargo Equipment Finance surveys executives in the construction industry to better understand and serve the unique needs that decision-makers face. In our Second-Half 2014 Construction Executive Survey we found more evidence that the construction industry has much to be optimistic about. Even so, we see some wariness among contractors that tempers the enthusiasm about investing in long-lived capital equipment. The general optimism and other positive indicators lead us to expect another solid year for the U.S. construction equipment market in 2015 with a continuation of the trend toward equipment rental. Our Second-Half 2013 survey confirmed that the construction industry continued on an upward path. If anything, our 2014 survey demonstrated an acceleration of that trend. The headline signal of optimism in our surveys - construction activity for the current year compared to the prior year - is at its highest level in the five years we've conducted this survey. Fewer executives see a contraction of activity than in the previous year, and the jump in the number of executives who see "much higher" activity levels is encouraging. About seven in 10 respondents (70.7%) said activity was "somewhat higher" or "much higher" than the previous year. In 2013, that percentage was 57.7%, and in 2012 it was 47.8%. In addition, only 9.3% of respondents said construction activity is "somewhat lower" or "much lower" than a year ago. In 2013, that percentage was 15.5% and 18.4% in 2012. Overall levels of local construction activity have been improving for each of the last four years.

Indonesia Leads Asia to Global Development in Construction Market - 1 views

  •
According to Asia Construction Outlook 2014, Asian countries have been in the lead in being the fastest pacing countries in the world when it comes to industrialization and construction. Jakarta, Indonesia is forecast to have the highest potential in terms of growth and development. Despite the slow development, the warnings of downfall and the great fluctuations of global economy, Asian countries have remained strong and have maintained their growth and development. The reason for this is said to be because of the demands of urbanization within their walls. Indonesia emerges as a particularly interesting market. Construction spending in the world's fourth-most-populous country accounted for more than a quarter of the nation's gross domestic product last year, with about half of this expenditure funding infrastructure projects. Aecom's survey also found that Jakarta is viewed as the No 1 city in the region for potential market growth and profitability. The country's development is already one of the main topics by analysts and economists and has been in discussion by many sectors all over the world. According to Global Intelligence Alliance report last 2014, property industry in Indonesia is expected to grow within 2015 on rising middle class and infrastructure spending. Indonesian middle class is expected to increase to 90 million. The report also anticipates property prices to increase to 15%-20% as they respond to fuel prices, electricity prices and bank interest rates. The fact that foundation contractors plan to increase prices by 5% in March will also have an impact. The price increase will mostly affect small developers and the low-level segment. The middle-upper market should not be significantly impacted, however, because of the strong rise in purchasing power. Property developers in the retail and condominium segments are particularly interested in the suburbs and outskirts of Jakarta. This shows the fast-paced expansion of
