El objetivo del proyecto es generar un sistema que permita al usuario planificar una visita turística en una zona rural concreta ofreciendo las siguientes posibilidades: Impresión en papel de guías turísticas a medida. Descarga de información personalizada para ser visualizada mediante dispositivos móviles, tipo PDA, con o sin GPS (guías digitales, mapas georreferenciados, waypoints, rutas y tracks).

Semacode works by embedding a URL (web address) into a sort of two-dimensional barcode which looks like a dense crossword puzzle (pictured) — called the tag. The SDK software contains the capability to detect and decode the tag very rapidly with the camera on your phone. It extracts the URL and sends you to that address using the phone's built-in browser.

GoCars are easy and fun to drive. They're guided by GPS (Global Positioning System) – which means that the car always knows where you are, even if you don't. As you drive, it tells you where to turn and what you're passing, and it waits patiently if you want to stop. As soon as you turn your GoCar back on, the tour picks up where it left off.

The trolleys have been wired up with GPS receivers which constantly pass location information to the PDAs. The PDAs then check their databases for location information and play the appropriate audio over the trolleys’ PA systems. Drivers are not required to interface with the system at all, and the historical tour plays automatically.
