A virtual drum roll please… We are thrilled to officially open the application process for the Discovery Student Adventures Pilot Program. Not only are you able to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity, each STAR selected will be able to choose four of their students to join them on the adventure! ScreenStream lets others 'watch' your screen on their computers over the network or the internet. It is the modern equivalent of the overhead projector. When you turn on screen sharing others on your network (or even the internet) can view what is on your screen by typing the link (and optional access code) into their internet browser. They can continue to watch your screen until you turn off screen sharing.

Any PDF form can be used, even if it's not "interactive", so you can get started right away. You can even invite a group to fill out your forms and track the results. Anyone that collects signatures or filled out forms will find FillAnyPDF.com to be a valuable time-saving resource.

Turn a boring old spreadsheet into an interactive web-based map, timeline, or table with some simple HTML using the free, open source Exhibit project. Exhibit takes data sets up to about 500 rows, plots locations on a Google Map, dates on an interactive timeline, and displays images and links in a tabular or thumbnail view. The viewer can sort, search, and filter data in any Exhibit view without reloading the page. You can make Exhibit do all this with a single HTML file and a spreadsheet-no hardcore programming required.

SignApp Now is the dead simple way of creating sign up sheets. It's so simple you don't need to register to use it. Just create a sign up sheet and email its unique link (URL) to everyone you'd like to sign up. They just need to go to the link and sign up. They don't need to register too. It's that simple and easy.

Mike Fisher, an instructional coach and education consultant, has created an interesting wiki called Visual Blooms. Visual Blooms inserts web resources into the hierarchical categories of Bloom's Taxonomy. Web resources are placed into the categories of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating. Whenever the "new blooms" gets mentioned I get the impression that people jump to the creation part as the immediate goal for any lesson. Those levels should always be stressed as developmental stages. Where as I understand how each of those tools fit neatly into the categories, I believe they are more powerful if you can guide the user through each of the developmental stages using one tool. Imagine teaching to remember using Voicethread. Continuing on through evaluating others Voicethreads. Then taking the students to create their own. It makes the pyramid more powerful. :-)
